Its not Memphis, Memphis is sweet... Its Tulsa, just stupid. No one wants a rematch, and esp since we play them early next season. Its not a hated rival or anything. Just bad. If we win, no one is excited.
Come on people! Stop whining! I can understand about being disappointed in playing a team ISU already beat. But to be crying about going to the Liberty Bowl, or going to Memphis, or a Dec. 31st bowl is just ridiculous. ISU is the 9th place team in a 10-team conference. A very deep conference, but still.
Some of you sound like you would be happier if ISU still had Louisiana Tech's AD so he could turn the bowl down.
Be happy......ISU is going to a bowl game for the 3rd time in the last 4 years, and in another year where ISU was picked to win maybe 3 or 4 games by most.

Well, the Big Ten has gotten themselves into those tie-ins. It's great for them, but it's bad for them as well. They look bad in the bowl season because teams like MSU or other mid-level Big Ten teams are playing teams that finished much better within their conference.
They thought NIU would make BCS. We were a lock for Dallas if NIU comes short and OU gets a BCS bid. Also nobody expected NU to lose by 50.
There are a billion bowls with many of them having match ups like ours.
.500 teams do NOT deserve bowl games.
The only people who think that .500 teams deserve to go to bowls are fans of .500 teams.
It's a joke and it's why bowl games are now meaningless as an indicator of excellence.
Well these little bowls are what allow the smaller programs to get the extra month of practice that was formerly the exclusive right of about 20 programs. So, I guess if you are a status quo guy and want the "haves" to keep having then they are worthless.
The problem with saying 6-6 teams do not deserve bowl games is that NIU would not finish above 6-6 with our schedule, yet they are playing in the Orange Bowl. CFB postseason is not about what you deserve, it is about popularity, and apparently the MAC is darn close to the Big 12 in that regards.

In a conference that dominated every other conference, absolutely. This isn't a normal situation or a normal conference.
Certainly not if you are in the Big 10, but I know you are well aware of how awful that Big 10 team is.
