Let's face it

I also think we need a BIG in the middle - White is strong but going against 6'11 or 7' will be tough.

6'8 and 260 is plenty big for what the Clones will face 90% of the time this year. Most teams don't have legit 7 footers. Heck the Hawks have Archie, Olesani that are both 6'10+ but they'll both have a real hard time with White.

The problem with the Clones is quite PG and lack there of....will be the one position that needs to be squared away somehow or the Clones will continue to struggle.

While I agree that Royce White is talented, he also looked lazy. Especially on D. The only person on the team that showed any fire to me was McGee. Hopefully the team stops reading the papers and starts focusing and showing a little initiative.

Allen had an off night. When he first became part of the program, I thought for sure when DG left, he would be the point. He was really good at MSU when he ran the point.

He was an average PG on a very good team. There is a reason why transfers transfer and now we have a few. Drake should NEVER beat us. Ever. I don't care what the excuse is. Am I the only one who thinks the PG position is not the problem? No one on this team knows what their role is. It's a thrown together mess. Bunch of guys trying to be the man.

Hopefully they keep reading the papers, because the papers are not going to be kind to them in the morning.

The exhiobitrionm and Lehigh game showed us we were not super duper. Tonight sealed it. WSe are looking better to full court press and use ten people than this we do not have a plan point guard junk.

Royce will soon be double teamed in the Big 12 and rthewn he will have to pass some.

We just look toooooo slllllooooowwwww.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A shooter havinmg missed so many shots needs to drive to the bucket and not pump it up from 30 feet out. Most of the shots were not that close to going in. We could not even get the long rebounds. We shot ourselves in the foot. The intensity factor needs to go much higher before we can play well.

If they lose four in non conference, they will not go to a tournament.

I didn't see the game and maybe they need a wake up call who knows, but its way too early to make final judgments. Remember the final 8 club with Fizer and Tinsley lost to a worse Drake team than this I'm going to guess.

It will take some time for the team to gel. I just hope Hoiberg teams can play better on the road than Orr's teams use to.

If only korie lucious was eligible...

Lucious was a mediocre player at Michigan State. Maybe he will suddenly be good here but I would tend to doubt it. Just one of the many transfers we have taken that has left me scratching my head.

After a night to sleep on it I will say this: We are/will be much better than last year and maybe that's all we should expect right now. Just getting into the postseason somewhere would be good progress.

The point is, this should have been the expectation from the start -- improvement over last year's team. So many people blowing this team up to unreasonable expectations on this board, I was fully expecting a ridiculous meltdown -- and that was before the loss last night.

Maybe now we can quit hearing ridiculous stuff like "in the hunt for the conference championship" and "Final Four". Just be happy if they can improve this season and if they surprise, great!

When I tried saying something earlier this year about people expecting too much from the transfers, I got killed on these boards. I pointed out that Allen and Babb were only 8-9 points a game type guys and that Booker wasn't very good on a mid-major team and people got mad at me.

That being said, it was only one game and I do think this team will get better as the season goes along and I think last night will go along way to making them better because I think they found out they really have a lot to work on and can't just show up and expect to win. I think the big part is that people just need to find their roles on the team.

My favorite was from a few weeks ago, something to the effect of "How do you stop this team????" Apparently, you just guard them.

Game 2 = panic?

If we look like this in game 8 or 9 I'll be concerned. As of now, I've seen this all before with good ISU teams and bad ISU teams. Jury is still out on this version.

Someone on this team has to have some quickness and strength with the ball...god I hope there is someone.

Royce is a true talent. Otherwise, the rest of our transfers were average at best or role players on their former teams. Throw in the fact that we don't have a PG and coaching is still a question mark, all this NCAA tourney run talk was completely premature. Not going to happen.

Its sad that some people couldnt read the writing on the wall all summer. Oh well. I dont think you need 5 superstars on the team, but you certainly need a PG if you dont.

I think we are seeing with Allen what many of us were concerned about. The guy has one year to prove people wrong and show he is an NBA talent. He is going to have a hard time doing that being a role player. Thus we see him hoist up awful shots.
