I've had so many thoughts about this. "Pray for Las Vegas" - definitely, but I feel like the prayers would have been better served before. Then I thought about posting a political diatribe, but what difference would it make?

Never understood the ability to do this. Killing someone is not the answer, especially people you don't know and have no issue with. Just some pure evil out there.
It will be interesting to know what they find out from computer records, social media accounts etc. From what I am hearing on the news is he had a couple of cameras set up so he would know when the police arrived. I know he is dead but I'm not sure if anyone knows whether he took himself out when he saw they arrived or if the police did.

NPR was reporting earlier this morning that the shooter was already dead when the SWAT team entered his room. I don't know if that's been confirmed by any other outlets yet.
Terrible thing. Makes me feel hurt and sick to think about the victims, and what their families must be going through.
They are also reporting that over 400 people have been sent to hospitals for medical treatment.
Could be. I don't think there is a lot of totally reliable info yet. It wouldn't surprise me if the number is close to that when you consider injuries received from people trying to run to safety.
BS... If anyone has an interest in politics, the name-calling, bullet point talking lists should be enough to keep you looking for REAL political discourse.
This. I enjoy rationale talk/debate about politics and the cave is the last place you'll find that. Unfortunately the crazzies on both sides shout out everybody else.
It'll be interesting to see how the shooter gained access to automatic weapons as i believe they are highly regulated.
Try not to make too much sense of the senseless - the shooter was evil, and sounded well prepared to carry this out. Thought are with the innocent victims.

Slightly expanding on this, fully automatic weapons are still legal with proper paperwork, but the weapon must have been manufactured prior to 86. However, fully automatic weapons pre-86 will still run somewhere around $10,000 or so (maybe there are cheaper ones, but this is a pretty common number I see), plus cost of licencing.
Other ways to get the fully automatic fire would be what someone else mentioned, which would be mechanically augmenting the trigger/sear on a rifle. Also, there are some sort of Gatling conversion kits that I believe are legal that allow a semiautomatic rifle to be fired in this manner.
