Kyle Kempt's arm strength

Watching the latest installment video last night it is no coincidence that CMC's Texas post game focussed on elite poise. Whatever Kyle Kempt's naysayers might think he lacks in arm strength he certainly makes up for in elite poise.
I was thinking the same thing watching that. Campbell talks about elite poise being what the team was lacking in that game and the very next game against a top rated foe on the road he starts a walk on whose best trait is the poise he shows on and off the field. The kicker is that it results in a huge upset win.

I am fine with his arm strength not being the best, but it seemed like in the bowl game it was a bit weaker. I didn't realize the conditions were so windy since I was not there. I was just curious if his injury to his shoulder/arm was lingering and that this contributed to some bad throws. I love his poise and he is smart enough, he can compensate for a weaker arm with timing and ball placement. I was only asking if more time to heal might improve his arm strength a bit from the end of last season.

I'm little scared not having Lazard, the guy drew double teams which freed up the other receivers, and if the ball was in his general area he was going to catch it.

Agree we'll miss Lazard, but I'm also excited to see how Butler, Jones, Eaton and co. develop this offseason and next year.

Kempt will need to get significantly better for ISU to have success next year. Teams have tape on him, load the box to stop the run and make Kempt beat them with his arm. He was 1-3 in his last 4 games starting at QB. His arm was not P5 caliber last year, however his decision kept us in close games due to ball security.

He had a bad first half against WVU but played well enough to win that game and certainly the game against KSU. I like our chances if teams underestimate Kempt's passing ability.

They didn't score over 20 points in either of those games, that certainly isn't playing well enough to win in my eyes... He doesn't seem to be able to take advantage of the defense putting 8 guys in the box. We will continue to have heartbreaking losses if this trend continues.

He set ISU record for the best completion percentage and has better yard per completion than Park. It seems you are blaming Kempt for all those close losses. BTW, it was Noland not Kempt who finished OSU game.

The wind in Memphis was significant. Both teams altered their play calling based on if they had the wind with them or against them. There was one Memphis punt near our end zone early in the game in which you could see the football moving violently in the wind. Our returner decided not to field the ball. It was a great decision on his part, but I am sure it was questioned on TV. Kempt made good throws and good decisions given the conditions, but I did wonder at the time if Zeb would have been more effective against the wind. Zeb may have tried to make throws he shouldn't have though. We don't know.

Yes it was, I believe Kempt had the offense stuck in the mud that game as well and it was Noland who got them back into the game and in position to get to OT. The teams ceiling is way lower with Kempt at QB.
