KU Fans

Do KU fans realize how arogant and immature they sound in an opponents stadium chanting Rock Chalk Jayhawk. Can they be humble and act like they've been there before?? Nothing is more irritating. People don't detest them because their good, people detest their arrogant pompous fans. (of course not all ku fans are bad, but just their general demeanor that they are world beaters)

Is it that hard to see why people despise the school and get upset with their egotistical fans? It's stooping to the Hawk and Husker level that all of us around here detest so much.

First off, the rock chalk chant is ********. Secondly, "waving the wheat" is the biggest fairy cheer I've ever seen. It's like a sea of patrons at a gay bar during a sweet techno song.

and third, if you check the KU boards they seem to stereotype us as hicks, small town folk, and out in the middle of nowhere. (which is a perception from a lot of fanbases, not just KU) But Come on!!!! Your in Kansas!!! Not exactly a thriving mecca of swank, not to mention about as "in the middle of nowhere" as it gets.

and yes sour grapes. I'm about as sick as I can get of KU.

That was awesome, good job! I'll try to remember my camera one of these games to take a video of Flag Guy II for you, so you can see how your protege is doing. He's been running for the last couple games. On Saturday, before FGII ran, there was also a gorilla that ran a lap being chased by a banana. Wish I had my camera for that one...[/IMG]
Flag Guy II, at your service. Unfortunately, I can't be at every game this year- had to miss a couple already last semester. I will definitely be gone for the Kansas State game, and possibly for Baylor (though I'm trying to get my meeting moved), so don't bring your camera to those games! I'd love video, though- I don't have a camera at the moment.

The gorilla was in the lead when they went by 207 and that was the first I noticed them. I thought the gorilla chasing the banana would've made more sense. They were about done by that point, maybe the gorilla is just in better shape than the banana and pulled past him.
:biglaugh: The gorilla is a friend of mine and part of my gameday crew. He is also a very big man, if you catch my drift. The only reason he was ahead of the banana was because they ran halfway around the arena, and then he 'caught' the banana and 'ate' him, then ran the rest of the way in celebration.

I wish I had seen the Gorilla and Banana... I've seen a You Tube video of them (or another gorilla and banana) on Campus, and remember the Gorilla going to bball games

Always cracked me up

Both of them looked completely gassed after about half way around Hilton. Both might want to get off the couch and into the gym.

Of all the other people to run around the Balcony.... my favorite would of course be the time that Cy followed me up to the Balcony, took my flag and went on a lap instead

I have to say... I'm impressed a bird with that big of feet can make that run... it's a pretty good distance

i know the lady in 238 row 17 seat 2 didn't care for the KU fan in front of her. we were a few seats down. KU made a 3, the KU fan jumped up and did a little dance, the lady behind her kicked her chair. she was about 60 and the KU fan 20.

Can't stand when people stand in front of me. No pun intended. Especially when those people are 'Hawks.'

I REALLY hate Kansas University and I was getting really mad when they were singing that stupid *** rock chalk chant. And I wish I wouldve kicked that ****** Kansas fan who ran around the top of Hilton like a retard. I can't wait for the day that Iowa state beats Kansas again. That is better than beating Iowa. IMO

same here hopefully we can get them in lawrence. but wishful thinking there. as far as iowa, in basketball, hell yes it's better to beat ku than iowa. just like beating nebraska is better in football. in-state rivalries are what they are, but beating teams with some history in the sport is much better.

Hilton needs to be a place where opposing teams AND FANS are scared to come. I'm not sure how afraid fans were back in the "good ole days" but I think it all comes with the territory.

I disagree. No reason to be disrespectful to opposing teams' fans. Cheer loud for your team, make is a good atmosphere to help your team, no reason an opposing team's fan can't watch a game in our arena.

Harrison will look great in blue wherever he chooses to go.

KU fan here, the guy with the flag sounds like an idiot but every fanbase as a few of those.

I was at the game where ISU beat KU at Allen in 04-05 and I remember a group of ISU fans up in the corner with plenty to say after the game and a nice "KU Sucks" chant.

Totally agree. I'm fine with their fans cheering for their team. But the rock chalk in an opponent's arena is rubbing peoples' noses in it. That is just low class and not respectful to the hosts. In my section, there was one guy above us in the concourse yelling that chant. He got an earful from me and disappeared. He was about to get punched if he was still there chanting by the time I got up to the concourse.

My love for KU fans was solidified in 2000 when I tried to scalp a pair of tickets for the semifinal B12 tournament game from a KU fan. Price: $150 each. Turned it down, stepped aside to discuss with my buddy, and watched them sell the pair to an OSU fan for face. As a kicker, I later had a KU fan break out the "Kansas is the birthplace of BB" line in a defense of their program. Ugh.

I went to the game with couple of KU buddies, they were very respectful.
What bothered me was two classless dumb ISU fans (I am assuming they are drunk current ISU students) who decided to call names and make fun of these two poor KU kids (probably age of 6-10?) and mom. I just wanted to kick these two idiots in the nuts. I seriously wanted to hurt them for making classy ISU look bad. As an alum, that really pissed me off that I am associated with these two idiots. I later saw those KU kids and their parents at Legends and appologized for dumb classless act, just felt like least something I can do to redeem ISU's class.

Hopefully they were talking about how Hilton used to be. Great basketball, loud fans, sold out arena. to me "scared" would be an opposing fan thinking "oh ****, we play ISU this week in Hilton, I might as well stay home because we aren't going to win" I don't think they we meaning "scared for their life". atleast I hope not.

Hilton needs to come back to life, but it is easier said than done. First: JP is placing more emphasis on money than fans that will actually cheer. Yes, he wants (and needs that money) for improving our facilities, but how do you attract people when our beloved James H. Hilton Colesium's prime seats are being populated by stiffs who don't stand, or cheer. The only thing they know how to do is complain in local papers that their coffee is too expensive, or doesn't have a lid, and that the warmups are the wrong color! For the record, Cardinal is closer to burgundy than bright red, and who gives a rat's fuzzy behind about coffee, salads and deli sandwiches. Give us hot dogs, popcorn, Clone Cones and fans who cheer again Mr. Pollard! Cyclone Alley is doing their part, give us fans who respect Hilton Magic again, and not just for the women's games!

It seems to me that you ISU fans are becoming quite bitter over your getting your lunch taken by KU basketball for the last, hmmm...100 years.

I can't speak for the rest of the Jayhawk nation, but I personally couldn't give one **** about ISU, ISU fans and, in fact, until we play you each year I forget that you all are a D-1 school.

Where is Marcus Fizer when you need him....??

I wouldn't say over the last 100 yrs. I would say we're bitter because we lost to an ave KU team that will prob be an 8 seed, on our home court Sat by 15 pts.
