Something tells me we will get a bowl opponent (USC, A&M, Oregon or someone like that), with about 10 people "opting out for health concerns for the NFL"
No joke if I was running a program I wouldn't let the kids who do that travel to the bowl game. Give that to a redshirt kid, scout team member, or someone else who actually gives a **** about the broader and collective team.
The sad thing about it is I think a lot of it is bad advice from handlers or family friends. If you're a kid and you have 3 college games left, you can never get that back - and you could honestly get injured just as easily at an NFL pre camp in the summer, training camp, or a combine so what's the difference. I'm of the opinion our bowl games actually helped Montgomery and Butler in the eyes of NFL draft scouts and GM personnel. To me that would be a big deal in giving a kid $2MM+, when there were stakes on the line, you still wanted to suit up for your team - it is a testament of character.
