Pretty dumb to criticize something like this, plus the angle of the picture makes it looks weird. If you’re on the field the renovation is going to look awesome. Come back when it is fully complete in 2019 with your criticism. I know plenty of hawks that love our south end zone.

Congrats. Looks like ****.

Reports are they had serious issues with the turf they put in. U of I got a recommendation in how to fix it from the company aiding them. They wouldn't listen to them so they tried several different options. In they end the U of I had to take the advice of the contractors, call Iowa State University lawn and turf specialists. So if Kinnick looks good, you can thank the experts, a.k.a. Iowa State.

Yeah, must be the angle.

I just like the stadium. Let's not get bent.
I've been to games at Kinnick, I don't think there is anything special about it. And to compare the atmosphere against Hilton isn't really equatable. For being West teams, Nebraska (even with all their endzone seats) and Wisconsin have way better amenities, energy, and atmosphere. Iowa doesn't sell out and is obsessed with card stunts.

So are there any actual measurements to the slope of those decks vs the rest of the stadium? Looks to be quite a bit steeper. That may be an issue for the drunks and elderly, which make up a good portion of their fanbase.

Not a good look for the stadium, but I am sensing a pattern here. Try pulling into the hospital across the street and getting through the drive - like a flipping labyrinth - even worse with the new Stead.

All you have to do is walk around for a little bit and you realize and appreciate a competent engineering school (logical, sensible expansions and updates / pragmatic use of space). It is pretty easy to see where the good engineers go to school in the state of Iowa.

It truly does look like they made a hash of it - because they did. And agree the hospital area is about the same when you go there, it's a mess getting around, kind of like design by random number generator. In fairness most big hospitals are kind of a mess.

But this is what happens when you are stuck in the middle of town. Just no room to do anything. They should have demo'd Kinnick and built a new one out SW of 80/380 10 years ago; I think that was discussed but never done. Yes it would have cost $1B, but it could have been really nice, no more traffic nightmares, better tailgating, etc etc etc. And freed up room for the hospital to expand...
