Keep Coach McDermott!

Not going to happen. And if BF puts a personal friendship with McD ahead of his loyalty towards ISU, then so long Bill. And I love BF and really respect what he has done for ISU women's bball. Nothing short of amazing describes it.

But come on. You think McD would quit if BF retired or took a different job? Doubt it. Greg won't even quit, period, no matter how much it appears that is the best option for all parties involved.

Ditto!

too bad JP can't find someway to take our collective minds off of the failures of MBB, by, oh, maybe announcing a big donor to help complete the South Endzone. Yeah, that would be nice.

well, honestly, I hope McD stays for a while, but I am selfish, I don't want Bill Fennelly to quit if McD is fired. They are pretty close, and BF almost walked when Dan Mac was let go. I know, all of you will blast me for how men's bball is way more important, but not to me. Men's bball has become to selfish and corrupt.

This is really reaching for an excuse to prolong the inevitable.

I would imagine that Bill Fennelly is smart enough to realize that if Gmac was fired, it was because of the horrible results.

Fennelly is a Cyclone and as such, he should want a MBB program that isn't one of the worst in all of DI.

Comparing Dan getting fired, which was much more questionable (in line with firing Wayne, IMO) after all that McCarney had done for ISU is COMPLETELY different than firing a coach that has destroyed a program from head to toe.

At this point, Mac did better with what he had than McD has done with his.

I might not have articulated it well enough, but I totally agree. Firing MacCarney was a toss-up. I could see both sides of that argument. Firing Wayne was definitely a toss-up as well, and I could see both sides of that one too.

Firing Gmac, should be a foregone conclusion and I would be shocked if Fennelly saw it the same way as the Danny Mac firing.

What is any different in the G Mac situation now, then one month ago? Other than Ham and an asst. coach, nothing has changed.

And Colvin. And the feeling like this is going to happen every year no matter what. Etc, etc, etc.

What's differen to me is that those are two players and two coaches who were expected to be here next yr.

Of the three defections lucca doesn't bother me as much at least he went pro. These other two are just going to hop to different schools.

Us as fans aren't getting a fair and deserved answer from coach, ad or player as to why is wrong that you want to leave?

There has been two assistants coaches and also Buckley. Rumors are that its not over yet; Colvin is out, and Dendy might not make grades. Dont forget that every time another deification happens, there is a portion of the fan base who joins the "**** it" group, and quits supporting ISU Men's Basketball.

Not that much really. Even with Ham and the two assistants, we were going to finish no better than 11th in the B12, in Gmac's FIFTH YEAR.

Very sad really......

Do you fire a coach based on rumors? Or what might happen based on message boards? Just askin.

Not at all. IMO, If the Dendy and Colvin rumors prove to be true, it should not be the straw that breaks the camels back. There is more than enough facts to date which should lead to McDermott's termination.

Very true, McDermott could not win with 2, possibly 3 (Colvin, if someone would coach him) NBA players on the court at the same time.

Do you consider changing your coach when you just had an 11th place finish with what was supposed to be the coach's most talented team yet.

Do you consider changing your coach when most (IMO) of the fan base has no optimism of improvement for the next 1 or 2 years?

Do you consider changing your coach when the most talented players on the team seek transfers out of the program year after year after year?

Coaches leave all the time. In fact (guess) ISU has probably had the most stable staff in the B12 over GMacs tenure. And I find ZERO fault with the staff when players leave for playing time. These kids have 1 or 2 shots at it during their college careers and they have to take their best shot whether its at ISU or elsewhere. As for the others - it happens in every program but its magnified since we haven't had any on-court success. If we were deep in the NIT or were out in the first round of the big tourney people would be less up in arms but the fact is we haven't had any success.

I'm not in the fire GMAc camp nor am I in the keep GMac camp, but I do expect to be able to cheer on our team when the basic nucleus returns each year and we see development to the overall goal of being consistently competitive. With 1 exception - Ham - we have that nucleus back next year with the exciting opportunity to hopefully find another player or 2 that could mesh. But GMacs margin for error is razor thin. He needs to make some great assistant hires have some success on the court next year.

Colvin, TJ, two or three other defections...the hit list keeps coming....

The good news is that by the time ISU can afford the McDermott buyout, the NCAA field will be at a 128 teams ... so we might just be dancing within the next half-decade or so. So that's another feather in the cap of our 'marquee' program.
