Kasongo commits

Not to be a negative nancy here, but I am just as concerned about Prohm and his staff's recruiting as the rest of you. For those who are confident he will bring in talent here, what makes you feel that way? This staff has as little credibility as any staff I can remember at ISU. William Small was an assistant at an Ohio Valley conference school who has never recruited to a P5 school. Neil Berry was at High Point before this and before that he was an assistant at South Carolina when they were winning 5 games a year. What successful assistant goes from a P5 school to a mid-major? Then we have Danyial Robinson, who was at UIC before ISU. How the hell is he going to bring in All Big 12 talent with his minimal connections? Sorry just ranting here, but there is no excuse for not having a higher caliber staff at one of the Big 12's top bball schools.

We will be considering ISU a football school here in two years IMO

See my post at the end of page 8.

If I recall I said he might be one and done here and you said no way he leaves early. He left for the draft before even getting here.

No, you were calling people idiots for saying there was reason for concern on his eligibility. I definitely remember that. You weren't the only one by any means.

If Prohm fails to bring in a solid pg and wing for 2017 then I'll start worrying. I like Long, Young, and Lard as a class and am cool with this Kasongo pick up too. I also like that Isaiah Kelly is visiting this week per reports.

No trolling, just difference of opinion. Eventually, Prohm and staff are going to have to land some all big 12 players though.

Is it a difference in opinion or your negative attitude. Last time I looked it is mid June and signing date is November. Plenty of time to sign a strong recruiting class, so I am not sure the basis for your skepticism.

Also why do you say "eventually going to have to land some all Big 12 players". Unless you are psychic or the best judge of basketball talent that ever lived, how do you know he hasn't already signed All Big 12 talent? Seems to me Long, Lard and Young are all pretty talented kids who have potential to be all Big12 players.

It also seems to me that Prohm and staff have been aggressive to maintain the legacy that Hoiberg started. They saw needs and went out and signed Holden, Bowie and now Kasonga. Seems to me they are doing a great job of recruiting to make the Cyclones an NCAA Tournament team in 2016/17 and beyond.

In fairness it takes more than just being a good coach to make it in college basketball. I have no doubt that Steve can coach. The jury is still out on his staff's recruiting but he will have a big opportunity to land several more players by November.

Wasn't the most recent class - all CSP btw - somewhat highly regarded nationally?

IMO, we'll find out today that you are a duplicate troll account.

And when he declared Prohm said he likely would have been eligible. Eligibility isn't why he declared, he declared because he's good which also a lot of people didn't want to believe. Everyone here just hopes for the worst.

Yea, he is definitely recalling incorrectly.

Everyone is wrong sometimes but being wrong after you call everyone an idiot, again, is a bad look.

I caught that too.

I was actually trying to figure out how to see the reputation but couldn't figure it out. So I liked it to see if it would populate, it doesn't if you were curious.

I think its funny anyone with a dissenting opinion is a troll.

I was merely commenting on the self-liking of the post, and not insinuating anyone was a troll.

The hire of Fred hoiberg should basically kill all the troll questions you just threw out.

This guy may never start for us, but I think his role could be a "junkyard dog" role player off the bench type that comes in and does the messy work inside.

He's never going to be our top scorer or anything, but he can play a valuable role.
A much bigger Hogue would be a great thing. The 5 schools in the last 5 years is the only reddish flag.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but as someone wrote down below, if you weren't saying the exact same thing about Hoiberg and his staff, it does make you appear as a troll.

Besides, your post tells me that you don't know much about Prohm's history; he developed two players at Murray State that were thought highly enough by the NBA to be drafted, including one of them in the lottery last season. Unless you're Duke or Kentucky turning over rosters full of 5 star recruits every single season, it's hard for a school to put players in the NBA via the draft, since it seems like a lot of teams like to draft overseas players and stash them away, especially in the 2nd round. For a school with the small size and profile of Murray State to put two in the league recently under Prohm speaks volumes, IMO, not only of his recruiting prowess but also his ability to develop players.

Frankly, I have no worries about recruiting under Prohm going forward, and I'm looking forward to seeing who else he and his staff can bring in.
