Kansas @ Kansas State

They’ve won 7 of their last 8, and 6 in a row without Clark. I think they are above average.

They definitely are. They are not juggernauts though. I think think 13-5 might win the conference outright. I'd say it will at least garner a tie (and I'd take the tie with K State or Baylor, anyone but KU).

Man,that was one ugly game. Between poor play at times by both teams and bad refs it was hard to watch.

After watching some of these games lately I have to wonder... what happened to Freedom of Movement? Teams like KSU and Texas etc are getting away with a ton of grabbing, holding and physical play.

The only thing the conference tournaments matter for are small and mid-major conferences that depend on it for an ncaa tourney bid or bad major conference teams trying to desperately play in to the ncaa tourney. It’s nothing but an ncaa money grab. Still fun, but irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
How is the regular season title relevant in the grand scheme of things?

Outside of stopping the KU streak, it’s also a footnote to what you do in the tournament:

Because regular season championships are what everyone acknowledges is the true conference champion. That helps with things such as fan enthusiasm, recruiting and media coverage the following season.

It's not a footnote when recruiting...or in the trophy case...or in the rafters...or to fans...or to former players...or to current players...or to the rest of the B12...or to knowledgeable people.

Anytime Kansas losses a game its good for the rest of the league, because they will win out at home. That is the strength of Kansas, in a league with a round robin schedule, the team with the best talent is going to win it most years.

KU just does not lose games at home, I think Self has lost less than 1 home conference game a year since he has been the coach at KU each season. Go 8-1 to 9-0 at home, 5-4 or 6-3 on the road, you are conference champs. They have done it that way for 14 straight years.
Again, KU has lost plenty of games at home the past two seasons. They were 7-2 at home last year in conference play.

The West Virginia Fall Out...just foul a little less than WV and you are good to go.

I don’t get all the fuss over the regular season. We win the Big 12 tourney and that means more IMO....

Because it's a bigger accomplishment to come out on top in a 16-game 2 month slog vs. getting hot in a 3 day single elimination tournament.

And KU has placed more emphasis on it for the rest of the Big 12. If we are the ones to end the streak, we will get a LOT of national publicity.

18 game. We aren't the big ten, we play everyone twice ;)

No, the regular season conference champion is what everyone acknowledges as the regular season conference champion. Which is also an irrelevant footnote not even a week later, same with the conference tournament.

Recruits acknowledge what you tell them and outside of the KU streak, most college basketball fans couldn’t tell you the regular season P6 champion from even a year ago.

Some of it will be "how could that be" type stuff but you gotta start somewhere.

I get that, but 3 home loses in the previous 2 seasons, and this is one of the worst KU teams we've seen in awhile. Its hard for me to assume they will win out at home with how terrible they have looked at times.

Kansas State will definitely lose a game or two they aren't supposed to. Or, simply lose in Lawrence, home vs Iowa State or Baylor. They've lost to some bad teams this year. I think that, while they're really good, they are not immune to a poor performance by any stretch of the imagination.

Those loses to bad teams was before they were at full strength

Man it's going to take a major turnaround for KU to keep the streak going. Easily the worst coaching season I've ever seen Self have

Say what you want about KSt they walked into our house and stole a huge win. Our game in Manhattan should decide our chances of winning an outright championship.

KSt has 5 games left on the schedule they could lose.

Kansas on the other hand could run the table if they can pull that enormous yellow beak out of their ass. Doubt they will but the schedule is favorable.
