NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Put fields on the Ravens are they are the same team. It’s Jackson’s running and their running game as a whole that makes them a good offense. Not Jackson’s passing ability. I mean it’s smart to build the team that way because their offense would be bad if they were trying to be a pass first team. I think he is really valuable to what they do but I also think the mvp for the ravens is the defense. They have been a TO generating machine this year.
It's an interesting point and Ravens would definitely still be formidable imo and Fields would certainly have a higher perception. I don't think they'd be top seed though. I think Lamar Is fields ceiling but he's not there yet. I think they'd be 10-7, 11-6 in that scenario but I might be wrong

Brocks an excellent quarterback. a step above Jimmy but we don't have to go back far to see what they were without him
Not sure why many think that Ravens are doomed without Jackson but other teams will be OK. Almost every team struggles without starting QB, not just Ravens. Where do you think Cowboys would had been if Trey Lance played instead of Dak?

I'd agree with all of that. Definitely worse

You really are not trying to say that Justin Fields is equal or better than Lamar Jackson here? One is going to be named MVP for the 2nd time in a couple of weeks, and the Fields will be traded at the draft when the Bears take Williams from USC.

The eye test has to account for something, it's just cannot be numbers based. If Jackson gets hurt on the first series tomorrow would you sit there and say "the Ravens will be fine, they still have the same defense, running backs and WRs?"

Jackson is the difference maker for the Ravens, just as Mahomes is for the Chiefs. Mahomes did not have a great season, but everyone in the league knows, that if he at his best, the Chiefs can beat anybody. Jackson is not at that level yet, but is getting there and is very close. The difference is Mahomes has won super bowls, and Jackson has not done it YET.

I've seen Lamar read a defense. I've rarely seen that trait from Fields. I think Fields is a superior natural runner, but Lamar is a more cerebral player. There's a chance Fields would have been better with a different OC but it's year 3 and he didn't show any progression with his processing skills.

Lamar is 10x better than Fields. Every Bears fan would laugh in the the face of anyone claiming Fields was COMPARABLE let alone superior.

Lamar is a way better pocket passer than his doubters give him credit for. He'll stay in the pocket and look for receivers way longer than most "dual threat" guys. He just hasn't been good in the playoffs thus far so that criticism is valid. Better touch passer than any of the other guys that run a lot too.
