NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Looking at the up coming off season, we either sign and trade Jones, or just let him walk. No way can we afford to keep him on the roster. Need to resign Sneed and one of the LBers.
On offense, find another tackle, find more speed from the WR's and a possession receiver. Someone that Mahomes can rely on to catch the ball when he needs 5 yards. Gone, Toney, MVS and anyone else that is not there to improve and get better. No matter how much talent you may have this is a results league.

The biggest thing this team needs to do is refocus, that starts in the offseason, cut out all the cute plays, and get back to basics. Blocking, tackling, cut out the penalties and get back to focusing on winning football games, not doing commercials, and who you are dating.
Yes the Chiefs should tell their players who they can date. Brilliant.......

The thing of it is, if this is the end of the Chiefs run as the cream of the NFL crop, it's not a failure. NFL runs end, and theirs has been fantastic. The modern era of New England is an absolute anomaly.
And Mahomes is young enough they can rebuild even if it takes em a few years to get back to the Super Bowl. Certainly a very successful stretch even if they go into a bit of lull they will still be a playoff team most years with Mahomes and Reid

Commercials and dating isn’t an issue. Come on man.
They have not been focused all year. Like they said on the postgame, being the SB champ means that you are going to get everyone's best shot. From the first game against the Lions this team has not had that focus, maybe losing the offensive coordinator is the reason, but whatever it is, outside interest is not good for anyone during the season.

No one is telling the players they cannot have a social life, but when you step into the spotlight like Kelsy has done, it never ends, 24/7. No matter who you are, it would be easy to get caught up dealing with all the social media and crap she brings. Nothing against her, but that type of attention can keep you from focusing on the game.

So date who you want BUT don't do what Kelce does.

For the record, "unfocused" Kelce at 34 years old still has more receiving yards than any other tight end in the league.

Without a doubt, but he also throws his helmet on the sideline today and Reid had to talk to him. I get he is frustrated, but everyone can see something is going on with him.

What is going on with him is he has been banged up all year and he is being doubled almost every play and still putting up numbers.

I don’t think this is the end by any means. The Patriots had down years too. IIRC, one of their down years spawned the Moss/Stallworth/Welker offense the following year. While I don’t think the chiefs will or can go out and buy an offense like the patriots did, I’m intrigued to see what Veach and Co. do this offseason
I’m guessing the front office signs 1 big name and drafts two WRs or signs 2 and drafts a high round pick.

Guessing this season results in similar fashion as the year when the Chiefs didn’t have an o line in the SB and they made drastic improvements in FA and the draft. Results were Thuney, Smith, Humphrey and the LT that’s in Cincinnati now.

And he's 34. That's getting up there for a skill position player. And he's on a team with a middling run game and below average wide receivers. He's being asked to do so much this season, and he's responded by still being arguably the best tight end in the league, yet again.

The problem is their recievers are undependable making it easy to defend Kelce.

Travis Kelce is showing his age, mileage.
The offensive tackles are horrendous, that Jawaan Taylor contract is so bad.
The WR corp might be the worst in the league at getting open.
Where is our 2023 first round pick???
The offense misses Eric Bienemy’s no-nonsense, tough coaching.
CEH might be the second most trustworthy receiver right now…

What's happening to the Chiefs is similar to what happened to the Bears after the 85 season. Too much publicity. Too many distractions etc. Mahomes has been bad this year. It isn't all on the WR's. A lot of bad throws to go along with the drops.

To be fair, the Bears went 14-2 the year after the Super Bowl.
