NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Looks like he may have a concussion on how bad that hit looked. Invested a lot in the OL this offseason too which is sad how bad they have protected him so far.

Not impressed with the re-tooled offensive line. Doesn't help the chiefs can't stop anyone so they are playing behind all the time. Glad we got 1 title at least. Starting to feel like the 2016 Cubs.

I really can't think of one thing these guys could do to turn it around. They don't have the personnel on D and the Oline is a mess.
I feel one thing we could do is be less greedy mahomes in particular. A lot of times 7 yards is there and he's too home run driven and holds ball. Could definitely be more disciplined big offsides by Clark early, a lot of obvious hands to the face type penalties this year. I imagine we're near lead for penalty yardage. You're right though in that some of our problems specifically defensively is just a talent problem

He's doing the same thing Rattler was doing for OU. Just take the easy yards.

They drafted well which is something the Chiefs have not done great. More misses than hits while the Pats had a nice combo of good drafts and economical roster management.
Win now approach by Veach to spend firsts on Clark and Brown seemed pretty smart at time but going to put way behind the salary cap going fwd. plus both of them have not performed at all.
I’m not completely sky is falling on the D, almost exactly the same group as last year, just not as cohesive. Need to get things together and just be average.

If you are going to win in the NFL, you have to have a premium QB, and those cost money, and the truly great ones like Mahomes are rare. So when you draft one, you have to spend what it takes to keep him happy and playing for you.

The Pats held on for so long because they had a great head coach, that was ruthless in cutting players as they got older, and wanted to paid. To be able to do that you have always keep looking for cheap talent in the draft, and have a star QB that is willing to sign contracts below market value.

All those years, the Pats would not fall in love with a player and what he did for the organization in the past, it was all about what he can do for you in the future. The Chiefs need to start taking this approach and not resign some of the older players like the Honey Bear, that is going to want to get paid.

How to fans look at that massive crippling contract now?
Stop with this. Mahomes' contract is not "crippling" the Chiefs. Many players have cap hits similar. He's not an outlier.

The real "crippling" contracts are Frank Clark (literally zero production while making $25.8M cap) and Chris Jones isn't exactly doing much either.
