NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

They are now officially calling it a pinched nerve. That would coincide what I heard last night from a friend who has an associate who is big bud's with Patrick's dad. Last night the dad was saying "it's no big deal", but it doesn't matter if he can't or didn't pass the league's mandated tests.
But...officially calling it a pinched nerve, does that mean he doesn't have to be on concussion protocol now? I would imagine they will still do all those tests to make sure?

Sounds like a prelude to letting him play if he feels good and wants to. They are already downgrading any concussion?

He is still in concussion protocol. ANY time a player comes out of a game like that they will have to complete the protocol. It's a safe guard against teams/players using something like a pinched nerve as an official diagnosis when, in fact, it's really a concussion.

If it is a pinched nerve he should be able to (easily) pass the 5 day (minimum) protocol period. In the meantime he can't practice. Given the team's experience and the familiarity (already played this year) that's likely a non-factor.

I'd be shocked if he didn't play this weekend.

I can’t wait to see what Andy,EB, and Kafka can come up with after rewatching the first Buffalo game. Gotta think they set some things up there.

Also betting that they morphed have hat 4th and 1 play from last week into something different and will run it in a huge spot either this week or on the SB

Buffalo is expected to make wholesale changes. I heard on sports radio the other day that Buffalo sent zero blitzes in first game. They also played a majority of defensive snaps with only 6 or 7 in the box. They did not think Reid would have the patience to keep running the ball against those fronts. They were wrong. KC ran the ball 46 times and kicked them up and down the field.

They won’t be dumb enough to do that again.

You can't blitz Mahomes, if you do, it just opens up the field and he will torch you. The best way to play him is rush 3 or 4, to put pressure on him, they have to do that. Then drop everyone in coverage like SD and Vegas did.

Mahomes has just chewed up any team that tries to blitz him, like Baltimore and others have tried to do in the past.

So basically, use the Heacock defensive scheme.

Well, it was both components that Buffalo screwed up before, only putting 6 or 7 in the box and never blitzing. They dared Reid to run and he stayed with the effective run game.

I expect them to change strategies. Tighten against the run and maybe blitz some.

The wildcard is PM’s foot/toe. Will his mobility be hurt? That is why I think Buffalo will try some blitzes. Will he be able to effectively extend plays?
