NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

It's might be the end of the run with this nucleus. I highly doubt that Mahomes and Reid are going to permanently slide into mediocrity just because they aren't gonna get the 1# seed this year. Brady won titles with 3 different groups.
It's hilarious when people think him and Josh Allen are washed. They both have at least a decade left and they'll reload with at least 2 cycles of new players for them.

The roster needs an enema.

Just my opinion but I don't care about the defense. Throw all of the money at the offense and try to win every game 45-35. That game yesterday was just painfully boring.

We’ll trade the Packers defense for yours if you want high scoring affairs

Mahomes may need to agree to restructure his contract to clear up some space. If he's frustrated with the lack of talent on offense then something will have to give in order to retain the guys that protect him and still be able to upgrade LT and WR. I don't see how they can keep Jones even on a 1 year tag. Just too much money tied up to do that. Danna and Gay would be 2 guys I'd like back too especially if Jones walks but the money will be tight to retain guys probably. The Taylor contract is just brutal. The dead cap money is more affordable after next season but their best hope is they can work with him in the offseason to correct the issues he's had.
Taylor's contract will be fine. He's actually good in pass pro.

I would re-sign Smith to another reasonable contract.

Without a restructure, Mahomes will have to make due without a true number 1 receiver.

You don't pay Chris Jones what he wants, look at Aaron Donald's decline.

And Chris Jones is NOT Aaron Donald.

Somebody will pay Danna, he's had a great season.

MVS Cut
Sneed, Humphrey, Bolton re-signed.
All else let walk, along with Chris Jones.
Some good WR are going to be available in free agency.
Draft TE, WR, and DT early in draft.
MVS is definitely cut. My guess is $12M cap freed up.
Humphrey and Bolton definitely resign. Sneed is debatable.
I'm fine with losing Gay, Danna, Smith. Chris Jones probably time to let him leave.
Best WR available are Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Pittman, Mike Evans, Marquise Brown.
I'd love to give Atlanta a call to try and get Pitts on a discounted pick. Drafting WR again is tough.

Of the FA WR my guess is most are kept by their current team but Brown could be available if the Cardinals draft Marvin Harrison Jr.

This still leaves a massive problem at offensive tackle too.

Truthfully, I think that the future plan is for Taylor to slide to the LT and have Wanya Morris play RT. I think Morris will be a decent RT, the game is just still moving too fast for him

The problem is... I don't know how we fix our problems.

Jawaan Taylor is locked into a horrible contract for multiple years.
For every hit like Trent McDuffie, Brett Veach has had some massive whiffs like FA-U (above).
What do you do with Chris Jones?
What do you do with Joe Thuney?
Need to get it right at Left Tackle!
MVS has a cap hit of $14M next year!! Dead cap is $2M. He's gone.
Trade for someone like Kyle Pitts?
WRs hitting free agency are weak overall. Probably can't afford best ones like Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley.
I don’t think you can say FAU is a whiff yet. They drafted him knowing he needed development and he has good players in front of him.

I so look forward to roster moves. I don't think the football product is going to pull one out of the hat this year.

Which is why the pick looks horrible in retrospect.

Granted, hindsight and all.

But LaPorta instead?

Also, I cannot believe how stupid the Bengals can be at times.

I am glad they are chirping though, the Chiefs need to play motivated and angry football.

They aren't the obvious favorites but they still have a top tier defense and Mahomes. All they need is average play at WR and OL in the playoffs and they could win the AFC again. Who in the AFC can't they beat if they just play slightly better? Other than the Ravens I'm not sure anyone is necessarily better.

I'm not saying they can't do it. I guess I'm saying they won't do it. Not this year.

If I was a betting man, I wouldn't bet against them though. The thing is, most pundits have been saying this about them this year, that they are still the 'cream of the crop'. Week after week they are showing that they are not that.

They have played like absolute **** the last several weeks no doubt, but this team was still considered one of the top 2-3 teams in the league a month ago. I think I'd still put money on them over anyone except Baltimore. Nobody else impresses me at all. If nothing else I'm betting on Mahomes.

Defense needs to stop jawing. They're getting embarrassed. Front is getting no push and linebackers completely out of position.
