Kane's Ankle

For the record I have had a few sprained ankles from playing b-ball and with todays training and drugs DK will probably be able to play Monday, but he sure wont be one hundred percent.

Hopefully we can beat the jhoks and send'em back to Lawrence with a LOSS...

Hearing from a friend at the WBB game that the mens team is back and Kane was walking with no crutches without too much difficulty, but was taking it easy on stairs.

Just wanted to thank all the hawk fans for stopping by to give their words of wisdom on this topic. One more thing, go **** yourselves.

Dude had to pull the plug on his old man when he was 20, this is nothing compared to that, if it is humanely possible to play, i am sure he will give it a go.

I am told he was at the women's game in a walking boot.

Interpret and speculate as you please.

This sounds like good news. But, unlike a majority of you, I am not gunna speculate whether or not he plays on Monday. If he does, it's because he can, and there is no risk to further injury. If he doesn't, then I'm sure Fred's gotta plan, and us fans there need to step it up to help out a team missing a key player.

That's not what others are saying but even if he was, I wouldn't read too much into that. It would be probably be just to keep pressure off it.

Ok so I just watched the replay of Kane's national media sprained ankle and I'm feeling pretty confident he plays Monday. He turned it inside(barely). Didn't even roll it or anything it was one of those inside sprains. That type of sprain is by far the least dangerous and easiest to heal. I've sprained my ankle a dozen times, probably 4-5 times the same way during my old juco years, man that was years ago or decades ago I should say. It's one of those sprains that hurts like a mother ****** for a day then you are up and pretty mobile. Ok so I can't see DK's ligaments but just looking at the video it really didn't seem that bad. I will be surprised if he doesn't play. Just my positive vibe.

I don't care if he plays on Monday night v. KU. Yah, I want to beat those a-holes, but I really want him absolutely healthy for the Big 12 tourney and the dance. An un-healed ankle can mess with an entire season.

As far as how far the ankle looked like it turned, it looked about as minor as they come. Obviously we don't know what's going on tendon wise and stuff like that, but just watching it it doesn't look like a super serious injury.

And while it is a bummer if he missed KU, it isn't the end of the world although it would be a bummer if that is the difference between winning the conference or not.

I am merely reporting what my friend saw while sitting behind the team at the game. I am not reading anything else into it, only passing along what my friend saw.

Some of the girls in this thread don't know true competitors play hurt all the time. Their moms didn't allow that in junior high ball.

If Kane has any chance of going, he will.

I played with a high ankle sprain in junior high. Iced it for a day, ultrasound treatment, tylenol, ice, taped the shi@ it with an ankle brace and played. It hurt like hell, but I was a bad a@@ in junior high. Just like Kane is a bada@@ right now.

You, Sir, didn't play junior high girls basketball.

Dude he didn't just sprain his ACL. He had what looks like a very slight ankle sprain. We play only 3 games from now until Jan.29th. In other words Kane will have 15 days this month alone to rest his ankle if he wants. The tourney is two months away.

I sprained my ankle three times, once my ankle actually touched the hardwood. That time I couldn't even walk on it till day 2 with crutches and it was a week before I could walk without a limp. 3 weeks before running and a month before I was comfortable jumping. The other 2 were about two week heal time but some swelling soreness persisted for many weeks after. Hoping his was more twisted than sprained.
