Just so everyone's clear...

It stung because you’re a troll. Grow up.
We’ve lost two games in this conference by a combined 4 points, both coming on the road where we didn’t play well offensively.

Normal teams get their ass kicked when not playing well one way or another on the road. We are not a normal team. Also, this team is still gelling together. I’m so excited to see what’s in store when we’re fully healthy in February and March.

Hard to determine how this calc works from a quick glance. But just to show even for the high-end conference title race (which I'm not quite sure we have the horses for anyway) yesterday didn't hurt at all. In fact, we gained some ground.

Now I get that if we win, the percentages go higher. But truly shows if you protect home court and pick up a few road games, you're golden in most data models. Especially in a conference that the winner likely has 5 losses. Tuesday will tell us if we're in the title race or if we're just a really good team playing well above anyone's expectations.

Win Tuesday and we’ll be tied with KSU and most likely Texas too for first in the conference. I think KU loses @ Baylor tomorrow night.

Just so we are clear, this game counts the same as the other 17 conference games. Same as tuesdays game.
Technically yes. Reality no.

If the goal is winning a Big12 Championship or even finishing top 3-4 in Big12 standings, then head-to-head games against like teams hold more weight. So beating K-State at Hilton is big.

Iowa State losing at OSU is not horrible, but means we now need to steal a road game against a top tier Big12 team.

No one is freaking out, just frustrated and disappointed we let one go. We want great things for our program like a good seed in the NCAAs. We want to play in Des Moines. We had a lot of talent in 2019, we should have been good enough to earn a top 4 seed in Des Moines that year. This year we don't nearly have the type of 2019 talent, but its a team that has good chemistry and works so hard, I think we can pull it off. The key is getting Grill back.

Funny that the "experts" on this board were hoping for NIT after Williams went down. Now we are talking about a realistic shot at a conference title We have a great staff that have transfers from Denver, UNLV, St. Bonnie's, Eastern KY battling and winning games against teams with All-Americans. I can live with them worrying about why we lost yesterday with 3 starters not playing. I am super pumped about the opportunities ahead, not worrying about losing as a dog.

It was only like 8 days ago when the sentiment was “let’s get to 8 conference wins that would be amazing” to “there goes our title hopes!” and we haven’t even made it through one cycle of the round Robin yet.

Why, because I don't blow rainbows and sunshine out my ass like you prefer? Or is it because you don't like it when I say your BFF Jones struggles against legit competition? Just want to clarify. Thanks!

The only thing you blow out if your ass is ********. Sorry we’re so good. I know it hurts. Just imagine a world where we get bounced in the 1st round of the tourney, brighter days ahead for you.

Saw this on Reddit. Chances of winning the conference after all of Saturday’s games.

TCU beating KU at AFH basically undid the dip we would’ve seen from losing yesterday. Yeah the loss really stings, we easily could’ve won that game. But we are still very much in this!

I was upset with the loss (admittedly a bit whiny immediately after), largely because of missed opportunity. My mini-angst lasted for about 42 minutes, as tends to happen. Big picture, it’s probably minor.

If you update Saturday results on MRed bracket generator, then leave remainder at default (which probably is set at “assumed favorites”) we get:

1. Kansas (14 - 4)
2. Iowa St (13 - 5)
3. Baylor (12 - 6)
Defeated Texas based on road winning percentage against #5 teams [Kansas St and TCU] (1-1).
4. Texas (12 - 6) Lost to Baylor based on road winning percentage against #5 teams [Kansas St and TCU] (0-2).
5. Kansas St (10 - 8) Defeated TCU based on winning percentage against #1 teams [Kansas] (1-1).
6. TCU (10 - 8) Lost to Kansas St based on winning percentage against #1 teams [Kansas] (0-2).
7. Okla St (6 - 12)
8. W Virginia (5 - 13)
Defeated Oklahoma based on winning percentage against #5 teams [Kansas St and TCU] (2-2).
9. Oklahoma (5 - 13) Lost to W Virginia based on winning percentage against #5 teams [Kansas St and TCU] (1-3).
10. Texas Tech (3 - 15)

If we had pulled through vs OSU then default, we'd be 1st, so of course that would've helped. But if ISU can get maximum "expected" wins, that still has us in contention.

This is putting cart way before horse, of course, of course. Main point, ISU needs to grab these types of games more often than not if the hope is to contend, but even a status-quo path has us in good shape.

Are people freaking? Figures. I stayed away today on purpose. I’ve never not sweated a regular season road game loss less. This team is for real. We will be fine. Winner of the conference will have multiple losses. We play in the best conference in the country. I’ll sleep fine tonight. So should all cyclone fans.
No panic here. I think people should realize by now that at times we still will have droughts of scoring, regardless how good we've been and our good conference start. I'm more worried about Grill's injury. So many things he adds to the team as a whole. To think we've lost 2 conference games, but both on the road by only 2 pts each.
Sorry if on a thread elsewhere, but what's everyone's guess on the number of losses the conference champ will have? I say 5, and there will be a tie for first.

I think you hit on what is really bothering me about people’s reactions to yesterday. They are just taking it as all things being equal when we were without our most important (and I think best all-around) player for most of the game. It’s not even arguable on defense. Gabe is great too but Grill is the QB of the defense and also the safety. He’s constantly covering up team mistakes on rotations, missed assignments, etc.
