Just so everyone's clear...

People really need to settle down. This is why after every big win or big loss I say it’s always somewhere in the middle.

Look, we have mostly mediocre talent that the staff has gotten every ounce out of for 18 months. We will win and lose more games. That’s why the games are played. No other staff would have gotten to the S16 last year with that roster or be where we are this year.

The future is increasingly and blindingly bright even if we’re still in the rebuild phase.

Get a hobby. Get a part time job. Buy a rental house. Listen to John and Eric while you improve the lives of your kids. You’ll be better for it.

Not really. Winning Tuesday is much bigger than today
Yeah. I really do not want to have us needing a win heading into a likely 0-8 in conference Texas Tech team. Either they will have totally given up or fighting their asses off. If it's the latter then oh boy. That's one you really can't drop.

Plus after that is KU in Hilton. Things can really start getting away from you quick if you let it

No panic. We lost today because Grill was injured. YES…injuries are part of the game, blah, blah. We lose a game by two, on the road, when we got zero points out of Grill. We get any production and we win. Period. If he and Kunc are back to full strength (or reasonably close to it) soon…we are in great shape. If they are not? Let’s not go there

I understand why people are upset about today. We had a 16 point lead in the first half with everything going our way. Up 12 at very beginning of the second half. Then collapsed with terrible ball movement, terrible shooting, and some really bad mistakes down the stretch. We win today and we’re top of the Big 12 and probably a #8 ranking in the country on Monday. A game like this was certainly winnable and if we’re talking about 2-3 seed in the tourney this is one you’ve got to win. After a really emotional win against Texas this was a huge let down.

At the same time I don’t disagree with others that this $hit is going to happen in the Big 12 and there is still a ton of season left. Anyone on this message board would have signed up for 2 losses in non conference and a 5-2 start in the Big 12. We’ll still be ranked top 15 or16 Monday and am not sure our metrics take a big hit. This is in no way a “bad loss” in grand scheme of things.

If I’m worried about anything it’s Grill’s health. Our offense today looked like a serious regression without another legitimate 3 point threat on the floor. And I think we missed his perimeter defense.

K State game this week is going to be big. We go 2-0 this week and I think a lot of people will step away from the ledge although this loss will still sting a bit because it’s going to be one of those that got away.

I’m super disappointed in result today but also really optimistic about the rest of the season at the same time. If we’re healthy in March, I think another Sweet 16 run or Elite 8 is very possible.

#2 Kansas lost two this week including a beat down at home by 23

#3 Purdue lost at home to unranked (at the time) Rutgers a couple weeks ago

#6 Gonzaga lost at home this week to a bad Loyola team

#8 Xavier lost to a bad DePaul team this week

#9 Tennessee lost to a bad Colorado team by 12 earlier this year and at home to unranked Kentucky by 7

#10 Virginia lost to unranked Pitt

#12 Kansas State lost to a bad Butler team by 12

#14 TCU lost to a bad Northwestern State at home

#15 UCONN started off 14-0 and have lost 5 of 6

#16 Auburn has lost to unranked Georgia, Memphis, and USC

I could go on...

Good teams lose to 'lesser' teams all the time. Breathe.
Not only that, but OK State is a very good defensive team. If they catch fire on offense, they can beat almost anyone. CW and Blum said as much on their podcast.

It is perfectly fine to be frustrated by the way Iowa State lost yesterday. Perfectly normal. Hell, it is perfectly fine to be “sports MAD” about the loss. It is perfectly fine and OK to worry that this loss (and losses like it) do in fact weigh negatively on our rest of season. It’s 100% OK to have the feeling this this type of loss lessens your inner Cyclone hope of a conference title.

Worrying, and being frustrated or mad - literally NONE of this prevents a fan from also appreciating the team, the coach, the program, its future, etc. None of it bans that fan from Hilton on Tuesday cheering their brains out.

Do we really need 1,000 posts on this message board about how folks need “settle down” and “get off the ledge” when it is absolutely 100% OK for a fan to be upset about the loss (and subsequently post about it on a free anonymous sports message board)? Losses suck. Always! Yesterday was a sucky game. Nothing posted in the last 24 hours is worthy of fans needing to constantly scold other fans because their reaction to the loss isn’t as crazy positive as theirs is.

This one stings but any cliff jumpers seriously need to get a grip. This isn’t college football where you play one game a week and singular wins and losses mean everything. Every single one of us knew that game was going to be really close and the analytical sites essentially correctly predicted the exact score to go along with the outcome.

Losing Grill ended up being the reason we lost, but even then we missed critical FTs down the stretch, got essentially zero calls, and Tre King misses a good look to win. Lot of very good and teachable things came out of this game.

I’m coming to the conclusion there are two camps of Cyclone fans on this site and it ultimately boils down to expectations.
