Replacing the NEZ video board!!
Replacing the NEZ video board!!
Here's the RFP with all the bid documents.Just the NEZ and not the SEZ too?
I wish the original boards were expandable - they look like they were built with that in mind, but probably not. Seems to me if you could move the sound system to the top, the video portion of both the SEZ and NEZ boards could be widened to the full width.
For Hilton, if I'm reading the specs correctly, they are asking for 15’ 6”H x 22’ 2”W.Nice! Wonder if the Hilton Video Board is going to getting bigger?

Looks like JTS includes both video boards, not just the NEZ. Also gives bidders options to quote the ribbon board. I didn't think the ribbon was very old.

If this is right, the current board is 28'x21'

Seems odd they'd go smaller so maybe I'm not interpreting the RFP correctly.
From my quick uneducated research I think the new JTS video boards will be larger and include the two blank spaces on each side which currently have the big 12 logo and i-state logo. Here's the RFP with all the bid documents.

Replacing the NEZ video board!!
Hope this is the case. From my quick uneducated research I think the new JTS video boards will be larger and include the two blank spaces on each side which currently have the big 12 logo and i-state logo.
It better. Those logos/mesh/cover/whatever the hell they are look so cheap and cheesy and the Cardinal faded to pink in about 12 days. From my quick uneducated research I think the new JTS video boards will be larger and include the two blank spaces on each side which currently have the big 12 logo and i-state logo.
I assume if they do increase the videoboard size for the full length of the structure that the next thing they will replace will be the sound system since it's currently behind the faded out logos in the north endzone.Jack Trice

Hilton
current: 18 x 15 (includes top, middle, and bottom displays)
proposed: 15.5 x 22, plus underside angled displays
*PLUS lower corner displays to replace the fixed-digit boards
Seems like a good idea but video display technology moves so fast that you don't want to be investing in outdated technology. And the old portion of it is old enough that you are just going to have more and more frequent problems with it.Just the NEZ and not the SEZ too?

The speakers were behind the mesh side pieces. What stadiums have been upgrading their audio to for some time now is a bunch of small speakers spread throughout and pointing down into the bowl. Avoids the weird echo and delay that makes leading chants so darn tough.Yup, I think you're right - I think what we've all been wanting is happening! IT'S HAPPENING! The full width will be video board instead of the mesh logo-bars on the sides.
I am curious about the sound systems - were there speakers behind the mesh? If so, I wonder if the new video board is able to pass sound through? or if speakers will need to be relocated. Just a curiosity.
This is another win for JP in my book. We are incredibly lucky to have that guy as our AD. His success record is well beyond the average AD.
