JTS Improvements - Want More

There must not be much to see with the construction. I thought folks may post CyTown construction after the spring game. But, dirt and parking lot stuff is not that exciting to look at.
I don’t think that there’s supposed to be any real construction of buildings until next spring.

Reminds me of the arguments against bowling in the south endzone.

If Iowa football reverts back to the futility of the 60s and 70s and we can capitalize on it, Jack Trice has room to accommodate bandwagon fans. We could convert a lot of the standard benches into club seating and continue expansion. Potential future generations of high dollar donors may eventually necessitate a grander press tower and more suite levels on the west side.

They are not planning on limping through the 2023 season with the NEZ board as is, are they? Could barely even pick up the action on that thing last weekend it was so grainy.

I agree. NEZ video board needs work. That should be a priority this summer, because it looks really bad.

I suspect that the Cyclone Club is waiting to see the final configuration of the C and D lots so they can provide maps and exact quantities of spots before they make an announcement.

Iowa has been consistently 'good' for 45 years now and with the influx of cash they aren't going anywhere as far as being a major draw for that fan base. That stadium is never going to have wide swaths of unused seats.
Yeah, it will take a full generation of futility to go back to the 60s-70s. Think 20 years, and like 4-5 failed coaches. But if they take a ton of TV money and hire flashy coaches, that may not be a good fit and it may fall apart.

Here's hoping!

How should that not be a goal?
The press box expansion would be nice. Building a third deck on the east side doesn’t seem necessary. If they really want to expand the seating they’ll build over the remaining hillsides first.

Can a stadium project like video upgrades get done without Regents approval? Not sure I have seen anything. Can upgrades/fixes happen that quickly?

NEZ video board is horrid!
It's embarrassing. Has always been aesthetically horrible, but its tech has fallen way behind too. It was a good effort from a cash-strapped AD when it was built, but it has to be replaced/upgraded.

If they replace the video board I don't see them doing anything different than them replacing the panels\sound. Can't really see them tearing down the whole structure and building new. That'd be considerably more expensive. Only way we do that is if we're doing some major project in the NEZ where the video board would need to move, and I think its safe to say that's far enough out itd be beyond the 10 year lifespan of the replacement video board.

The new video board at the Twins stadium (Target Field) is awesome. Jamie should take a look at it.

I think what you will eventually see is some form of sky box, that has a club section in it or hung below it like many have done.

The fact that JT Club is full and has been full for years, and it fetches much higher premium than the Sukup (which is also full) means they will want to increase club space on the sides, I would think. Either way if they put a club zone on the West side like the JT club, they still need to replace the suites that would be lost from that move, which could also be the case.

I have been one that wishes we would finish the North end before anything else, but I have heard RUMORS that JP and CMC both have said they want to go up on the Sides before approaching the North end. I dont think it is necessarily needed at this point, but as the desire for more premium features and seating increases it will be an issue. It could be the need for more club sections, that requires the current suites to moeve. It also could be the need to not only add club sections, but also enhance the suite amenities, that cause it.

Finally, on the East side I would think that would be a very last change to add another deck, although if they decide to make all the high End seats on the East a club section, or part of the JT club, then a small 3rd deck MIGHT be an option for more general admission seating, but i would believe it is very unlikely.

Regardless, pretty much every future change to Jack Trice will be to increase premium seating. Whether it also increases general admission seats will be dependent on how it is done. I also have to believe that we wont see any major upgrades until at least after CyTown is done, and likely after the Hilton upgrades.

Both the North Endzone Board & Hilton Board needs to be updated. Both tech wise are outdated now. Be nice if Hilton Board could get bigger but don't know if infrastructure could hold the weight of it if they do.
