There is junior hockey in Iowa and Ames has an active program. Iowa, being a small population state, doesn't have nearly the level of participation of Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Illinois. Even so, there are some Iowa kids playing in higher level hockey. ISU even has a player form Ames - Austen Parle (pronounced PAR-ell), plays forward. Besides, Al Murdoch has deep recruiting connections in Canada; states like Alaska, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Virginia (who knew VA would be a hockey "hotbed"?); and Scandinavia as well. Pretty big recruiting area.

I agree. There are five(including Omaha/CB) USHL teams in Iowa alone, plenty of JR hockey in Iowa (tier 1 at that). UNO is a perfect example of a new D1 hockey team, that has had success.

Way to just drape the logo sheet over a whiteboard. At least tuck the ends behind the board. Come on guys. That is why we have graduate programs in Sports Management.
