Facial expressions, hand gestures, body language, voice inflection, all things that don't exist on the internet. People read what they want to and therefore, sarcasm doesn't come across really well on the internet. No matter how "sarcastic" a post may seem, without all the cues we are used to, some people just don't catch on. Hence the pirate.

I mean just look at this site. Half the people on here think the other half of posters are idiots, maybe they are right. Either way, what amazes me, as I've posted before, is how many people are still amazed that others don't pick up the "obvious" sarcasm.

If you don't understand how ridiculous an AD announcing a recruit commitment to a school is, then sorry.

exactly right. with MN having 5 D1 programs in a state with one D1 football program we'd be setting ourselves up for recruiting failure. D1 hockey would be a foolish move for any school in a state without a well constructed junior hockey league set up.

Several years ago I went to a talk by Coach Murdoch. He said there was a lot of interest from the B1G in adding ISU to the B1G because of the hockey program, the B1G wanted to form a B1G hockey league. Penn State recently went from club hockey to D1 when a donor stepped forward with some big $$$$. The athletic dept kept this hush-hush because they knew there was not enough funding for a D1 team. Coach Murdoch said if anyone had $20M laying around he thought ISU hockey could go D1.

As far a junior league support, what about the USHL with teams in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Des Moines and Dubuque? Each team regularly sends 2 or 3 players to D1.

I know it is a stretch, but I thought I would throw it out there with some of the other crazy comments.
