According to ESPN Insider Josh Grady is down to four schools USF, ISU, WF, and Vandy, no surprises there, here is where the good news on the front comes from.

This is a much needed get for CPR and the Staff. Lets hope that his HS Coach's opinion weighs in on his decision, bring em home Cyclones!

I don't want to read into anything too much, but that quote by the coach sounded pretty promising.

Purdue pulls scholarship offer from Armwood’s King

Fearful of the type of knee surgery performed on Armwood’s A.J. King last year, Purdue University has withdrawn its scholarship offer to the senior wide receiver, Hawks coach Sean Callahan confirmed Monday.

According to Callahan, Purdue notified him it was pulling the offer last month during the Hawks’ playoff run to the Class 4A state championships. Callahan said the reason given was that King had a surgery to repair his torn knee ligament that is similar to four Purdue players, who later re-injured their knees. One of those players was former Plant High quarterback Robert Marve. The surgery, Callahan said, is one that uses the ligament of a cadaver, and he says Purdue is now leery of potential signees who have had this type of knee repair.

King, the Hawks’ leading receiver last season, initially injured the knee in a preseason game against Middleton in late August. Despite wearing a custom-fitted brace, Callahan said the knee “shifted” when King went to make a cut running downfield in the first quarter against Wharton in late September.

After being notified by Purdue it was pulling the offer, Callahan said he met with head coach Danny Hope at Armwood. Hope eventually offered King a gray shirt scholarship, but Callahan said that was not fair to King, whom he says “did everything the school told him to do” during rehabilitation of the injured knee. King also took an official visit to Purdue in early December, where Callahan said they continued to express their desire to sign him to a full scholarship.

Callahan said he is so upset with how Purdue has treated King, he has banned the Boilermakers from recruiting on the campus of the two-time state champion Hawks.

“They flew A.J. up there to Purdue, everybody wowed him, told him they loved him and all that,” Callahan said. “Then, after he came home, they pulled him, without ever talking to our doctors, without ever talking to our trainers.

“It’s completely unprofessional. In all my years as a coach, I’ve never, ever have seen something done to a kid like this.”

Callahan said he was then hoping to get King a gray shirt scholarship to Iowa State, but was informed by the Cyclones’ coaching staff this morning they were not going to make the offer.

Now, two days before National Signing Day, King is considering offers from Toledo, Kent State and Ball State, but he may not be signing with any of those schools Wednesday.

Looks like his coach was trying to hook us up with another player too.

Now that is the kind of relationships we need to build with the HS coaches in the power states of Cali, Texas , and Fla.

A coach that whats to send kids our way can never hurt, and i understand that it is a risk and we have signed more WR than normal, but if you want the big recruit in Grady and his coach may be a factor. Make sure the coach stays pleased get a WR in King who is a 75 Rating 3 star from the same school as Grady.

if the coach is pleased maybe he will suggest to players ISU ISU ISU!!!

Makes you wonder that if his knee didn't present an issue in the future, this could have been a good recruit that no one wanted. Kinda surprised they didn't greyshirt him. Might have made a good impression on Grady as well. Maybe there is more to his knee than meets the eye.

Vandy came in late however, and ISU and USF have been recruiting him hard the entire time. Depends on how his relationships with those coaches are. I am just assuming Wake Forest is out of it.

Actually Vandy Came BACK late they had been recruitign him as long as we were but just let him drop off their radar for a couple months. Lets hope that that works in our favor!

We wanted you this whole time! They only did when they figured out that they had a problem with recruiting!

Vandy DID have to go through that pesky coaching change! I think that they even went through the second half of the season with an interim coach.

Sounds like the coach is setting us up for the letdown. We've done a great job and he wants to still be friends type of thing.

Hope I'm wrong.

Either way Vandy had not been recruiting him hard the entire time

No, he's not. We have quarterbacks aplenty. If he were to sign, and a couple of years down the line beat the others out, that would be great great--but it's not a "need". We have quarterbacks aplently, and missing on Grady isn't a class-changer. Even as a safety...though either would be a bonus, the cherry on top of a nice class.

Now, if you want to talk a "much needed get"....

Sounds like Sam Richardson the QB is ready to go on Wednesday. So I agree Aclone, no worry at QB.

I get the "we already have a quarterback in this class" talk. But Grady sounds like a great kid, great athlete, and a can't miss prospect. He would definitely be one of the highest regarded recruits in this class along with Nealy. And sorry to say but CPR needs all the players he can get right now. I really want Josh to sign with us on Wed.

I wouldn't call Grady a "need." I would say he would be awesome to get, but we don't need him to fill a hole. He would just be a great athlete to have.

again, you all are missing the point with Grady. He could not only be a great QB for us, but also be successful at WR or S. I would call those needs. You are wrong if you say we don't "need" this kid.
