Josh Grady Update

Grady at one point was the 15th ranked dual threat QB in the nation. Rivals than switched him to athlete as a lot of teams were recruiting him at other positions. This kid would be a huge recruit for ISU if he signed. He can play multiple positions, is a terrific athlete, and is a great kid off the field to top it off.

again, you all are missing the point with Grady. He could not only be a great QB for us, but also be successful at WR or S. I would call those needs. You are wrong if you say we don't "need" this kid.

No, we don't "need" him. A need is something you have to have to fill a roster spot. There isn't a place, where we don't have some guys in place. For any spot he plays, we have people there.

This is true. Right there with Nealy IMO.

I would have to think with everyone so far it is already the best ISU recruiting class I've seen.

Well, 2002 had six 4 stars and looked like it would be a really dominate class, but it didn't pan out.

yaman3, I respectfully disagree. I understand that we have players in other positions that he can play including 3 others at WR, 2 at S, and a QB in this class(in which I stated already). I understand that and I'm sure most on here do too. What everyone is missing is that Grady would be the best athlete in this class no matter which position he plays. And to be honest, I'm not really sold on Darian Cotton as a safety. We NEED playmakers which Grady is. Can't miss prospect period. Really hope we get him. I really thought our biggest needs coming into the recruiting class were DL(missed on alot of kids), S(missed on alot of kids), and WR(I'm pleased). Grady would be a great get at any position and our class would go from just an average one to a really good one with the signing of Grady. Understand what you're saying though. Brackens looks like the real deal at S, I like Sam at QB and think he could be a good one as well, and really excited about the WR's in general. Just think Grady is the best out of all of them no matter what position it is. Just an opinion. Hope we can find out after he signs with us.

I agree with pretty much everything there. Where I differ is that I believe Cotton will be just fine and I think Nealy can be more productive due to the fact I think he can be very versatile in a Percy Harvin type role whereas I don't think Grady would be that. That's not to say Grady isn't a tremendous athlete and even more so, looks to be a great young man. I just don't like to label a kid a "must get" because I feel it undermines the class. I would trade Curt Maggitt in a heartbeat for 5 other guys who will all be productive. Basketball is different. One player can make you a conference champion. One player can't do that in football. You need a bunch of guys. By a bunch I mean 12-15/class who turn out to be solid players. If you only have 8 guys who turn out, it doesn't matter how big of a stud one of them is. I hope that sort of clears up what I meant. It wasn't to devalue Grady.

There isn't a single must get in this entire class by definition.

Josh Grady is a high-character kid who has a higher ceiling than qb Sam Richardson. Any school in contention to sign a kid like this would most certainly label him as a "need". Solid character kids usually become leaders and I'm sure the ISU coaches have identified his potential as a leader on offense or defense. I fully expect Grady to sign with ISU on signing day, as does the ISU coaching staff. Solid class and higher expectations for 2012 class.

Iowa State NEEDS athletic kids right? Josh Grady is obviously very athletic, right? By my math, Iowa State NEEDS Josh Grady because he's obviously a Big 12 caliber player and he can play nearly anywhere on the field. Iowa State is 12-13 over the last 2 seasons. EVERY position on our roster can use an upgrade. Josh is the kind of prospect that can and will challenge the current starter at certain positions. Iowa State NEEDS Josh Grady and many more just like him.

This just in from twitter:

I Don't Think I'll Be Signing Tomorrow , Don't Ask Me Why

Hopefully he is just messing with folks.

If not, my guess is that a late player has surfaced, and he wants to check them out. That would be a sad development if it proved to be the case.

Can't miss prospect period.
Don't you mean "Can't miss prospect, question mark"?? No offense to Grady, but how can you label this kid a can't miss prospect? Just because he's a tremendous athlete? Sed Johnson was a great athlete and a higher rated recruit...and was a miss.

No need to crown him the next ISU message board legend.
