Jok exited the Draft

Re: Jok Entering Draft

Caliperi told his whole team, even the walk on's they should all declare and not hire an agent.

Re: Jok Entering Draft

There's an article on the vertical today about how NBA teams are going to handle the influx of early entrants, the combine is not the only way players will be able to get feedback from NBA teams as they can also work out once for every NBA team.

Some NBA teams consider themselves to be embroiled in an arms race to collect as much information as possible about every player. Some NBA teams may elect to bring hundreds of players into their facilities, fully knowing many of them will ultimately withdraw from the draft.

NBA executives aren’t just interested in this info for their 15-man rosters. They now have a full slate of future players they will need to make decisions on for their NBA Development League squads as well.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Re: Jok Entering Draft

He's more athletic than Monte and can light it up if he gets hot. Obviously, like Monte, he would benefit from showcasing his talents as a senior.

However, it would be hilarious if Iowa lost their entire starting lineup. Let's be honest here, Iowa is going to be bottom 3 or 4 in the B1G with or without him.

LOL. No.

Re: Jok Entering Draft

If Fran and Jok don't get along he needs to just get out and make lots of money over seas. That's where he would likely be headed after his senior season anyways. I wouldn't want to play for that hot headed franny either

Re: Jok Entering Draft

Jok's statement on this, sounds like he'll be back at Iowa unless he happens to wow some team.

“I would like to take advantage of the opportunity that is now presented to underclassmen in going through the process of obtaining input from NBA personnel so that I can make an informed decision about my future. For me, this whole process is for experience to see how it all works and then return to work on my game.

“It’s comforting having the support of coach McCaffery and staff. Coach will continue to be a valuable resource for me during this process. If it’s not the right time for me to make the move to the NBA, I’m excited about returning and leading our team next season

Lol. I'm not sure he's more athletic than Georges.

He's no more athletic than Jordan Ashton.

Re: Jok Entering Draft

Rob Howe thinks Jok and Uthoff will both get invited to the combine and Woodbury has a chance to get invited. Seriously.

For it to be Jok’s last contest in a Hawkeye uniform, he’ll need a strong showing at the combine, where he’ll compete against some of the players he’d be jockeying with for draft position. Uthoff likely will be at the event as might Woodbury.

I'll cut my **** off if Woodbury gets invited to the NBA combine

Re: Jok Entering Draft

With the new rules, I don't blame any talented player for testing the waters, and getting an NBA evaluation. At the very least, it might tell the player what the NBA thinks they need to work on to improve. Sometimes hearing that from legitimate outside sources can do more to motivate a player than just hearing from the same old coaches again and again.

Plus, none of us know what the relationship between Jok, his coaches, and the other players might be. We also don't know what his financial motivation or family situation might be. There could be lots of reasons for doing this, and with the new rules you can't really get hurt. Probably the worse thing about it is for the coaching staffs and their recruiting. It delays things a bit until they can be certain what is happening.

He's a 7 footer who hustles. He'll get some serious scouting done by a few teams simply for his size. Your statement is incredibly stupid even for a homer towards a rival.

He's a 7 footer with no athleticism and a 6'9" wingspan. Iowa fans didn't like him so you're crazy if you think an NBA team will. He will either be selling insurance at this time next year or playing in Belgium

Re: Jok Entering Draft

Are we really debating whether Jok or Monte is more athletic? I don't think that's a plus for either player when it comes to the NBA, so who cares.

No, Monte is clearly more athletic but it was just one poster that said it
