Jimmy Johns

Ironically, I just started the franchise process with JJ's this week! JJ's is awesome and I swear they put crack in the bread. No stupid gimmicks. Just meat & bread - freaky fast.

Congrats, seems like a great company. Although it seems like 1/2 the employees are stoned :) At least the ones here in Des Moines.

This is my go-to Des Moines deli. The Tuesday Special is amazing.

If we are going to be bringing other town's sandwiches into this thread and you talk about a Des Moines place, you need to also mention the B&B. The Zach's killer is crazy good.

forever if your at subway, 1 minute at jimmy johns.

When I worked at Subway on Welch, 25 years ago, we all could haul ***. 30 seconds or so. You had too. Sunday evening the line was out the door.

I love how all the counter culture boo birds come out whenever anyone mentions anything chain or mainstream. "That JJ stuff is crap. You've never had my mom's extra meat sandwich with fresh bread...blah, blah, blah." JJ might not be THE best but there is a reason why you find stores all over the US. It's good. If it wasn't good, they wouldn't exist.

The same thing happens with Beer. Someone mentions any beer and then the smug, beer-snobs start to blurt out MysteryBrewery's-seasonal-hard-to-find-but-absolutely the-best version of whatever it is you just named.

Gets old. End of my rant for today.

Looks like someone needs to start a "Are you a sandwich snob?' thread...

I agree.

Another example is Fat Tire. I love me some Fat Tire but every seems to pooh pooh it because it's mainstream.

I like Jimmy John's, personally. Their bread is soft, their sub sauce is tasty. The Club Lulu is pretty good, and I can get two meals out of it. It's not quinoa salad and foie gras or anything, but it's a fast food sub that's decently made.

You're sounding a little too practical, Angie. This is a message board where people take strong positions and rant and rave.

It's true! NO MIDDLE GROUND EVER!

I confess, I'll also eat Subway on occasion. It's, like, four doors away from my office, so it's easier to walk there than to go anywhere else. It's also cheap. I'm shocking, I know.

Rep for you!

I wish sub city would make it to des moines. Although what number of stores does it take for a company to become a sellout?

Is Sub City good in Marshalltown? It's pretty mediocre in Cedar Rapids. If it weren't just around the corner from my office I would probably never go there.
