Jeff Horner at ISU?

Understandable, but at least someone who has maybe 1 year under their belt???
I'm not sure if you will find many of those, I'm not sure how long GA's terms are for BBall, but I would imagine 2 seasons. If they've completed 1, they are more than likely going to finish where they started, in order to get their master's from that insitution.

Let's all remember a few weeks back when Horner was a "slam dunk" as the GA in Iowa City and that rumor was quickly shown as just that, a rumor.

Let's all remember that this is a message board where the "what if" scenarios and rumors are excellent fodder for a fanbase. Oh, you forgot to add this:policeman: after your post.

I would be slightly disappointed if Horner ended up at ISU. But I've been impressed with Caff thus far, so I think I would give him the benefit of the doubt.

Horner has done good things at Grand View in Des Moines as an assistant coach. This would be a great pick up even though its just for a graduate assistant job

yeah, because one year of experience as a GA is really going to make a difference.

I'll shut up now but....................I don't like it.....

Please noooooooooo..............I love the Freddy hire and really have no beef with EIU, as the wife and her fam are fans, but please no more newbies!!!!

A graduate assistant doesn't have to have experience, we had Bryan Peterson right after he graduated.

Good kid and good friend of mine. I would like to see him become a cyclone. Dean Oliver had a big role in Horner going to Iowa.

I think it would be a very smart move. It would help at least get both feet in the door in some of the hawk households. Just as long as he doesn't bring any of that crap he learned from Alford.

Wasn't Steve Krafcism on staff at ISU at one time? No big deal, especially as a grad assistant. I hope we would be so successful that Iowa would look to an assistant coach at ISU for its next head coach, like they did with Gable.

Comments from story...

Gable wasnt really loyal to ISU, Horner is loyal to UI I believe. Ask Gable now where his loyalties lie and im sure he would say UI.

What a tool. Gable WAS loyal to ISU - ISU just wasn't loyal enough to Gable to offer him the ISU wrestling head coach job, so he took the first available one. Just happened to be at our biggest rival.

So what this guy's saying is that Horner wouldn't do the same thing because he's "loyal" and Gable isn't, even though he's getting older and opportunities are starting to slip away from him? Like I said, what a tool.

By the way, love the idea of Horner coaching here.
