Jaylin Noel hype

When it comes down to it, XH and Milton are really the only WR who have proved consistent enough to solidify their spots. There are snaps out there for the taking. Hope he keeps it up.
I’d also probably throw Shaw in there too, but when you already have 2 great pass catching TE’s at the same size, it’s not as important to always have Shaw on the field.

He had a good year last year. That Texas TD was still amazing.

Noel currently listed as a starter here. Does the coaching staff put this out or just media speculation? Great news if Noel has taken a hold on that spot.

I actually don’t have many issues with that depth chart. If Noel is that good, then Milton will definitely move outside. But there is no way Shaw is backup M. That would be Jackson. And there’s also no way Rory Walling is starting PR over Milton. Other than that, I could see it. I doubt jirehl Brock is the starting KR. He’s going to be back there but the guy catching the ball is a lot more likely to be Wilson or Sanders.

ISU in the past hasn’t tried to set up blocking for punt returns to go to the house. They have always been in punt safe mode just trying to secure the ball and then get their offense on the field. If Rory does a better job of securing possession of the ball. Then I can see why he is there as a number one option.

Our punt receiving history has trended toward bleak.

I'm all in for punt safe if coach wants it.

I love some good summertime hype! And Ourlads is usually as up to date as any outside source for depth chart guesses, but in this case, it’s a little premature.
It’s June and right now the team is just running and lifting. (And playing 7on7).
Ill take the hype as he’s standing out in these areas and we can look for good things to come from Jaylin! But he has yet to participate in a formal practice, so any depth chart updates are inaccurate.

He’s on there because that’s a media creation, and they know he plays special teams.

Noel as the starting M makes a lot of sense if he's ready to go. Question is how much the M position sees the field due to our wealth of TEs. Silas is also a candidate to get snaps here at some point in the future.

Rory lead East in tackles as a sophomore then had very productive numbers on the other side of the ball the following two years. He may not be an elite athlete as the other guys is the room but if he's on the field he'll be productive.

Usually I'd be kinda weary on this stuff, but given Campbells track record on hyping up or playing freshmen(Butler, Rose, Deshante, Breece, Brock, Monty, and likely more) I can't see a reason to not be very excited over this kid. The staff knows what they're doing beyond a reasonable doubt with this stuff.

It’s nice to have such talented backups just waiting for the opportunity.

I'm so stoked for this year but also for next year to prove the doubters wrong.

I think punt return safe is Crap. It gives me PTSD of the Chizik days with Todd Blythe back there fair catching. Weak. We have the talent that we have to have someone on our team who is both reliable and a threat.

What I like the most about this:

We really missed Milton when he was out last year. Didn’t really have a good replacement for him. Noel seems to fit the Milton mold perfectly.

Published depth charts are nothing more than message board fodder, no matter the source. Don't get hung up on if they're accurate -- especially one from a random website in the middle of the summer.
