Jayden Higgins Commits!

Good get for a position we have a big need for a couple players to emerge as game breakers. He looks like he has some speed and separation ability based on YPC and 10 TD's.

Uhf. I never realized he ended up with only 6. He had 5 in the first 3 games, and his only other one came in the only other win, against WVU. I don't know what this means, but it's probably not great.
This is a result of both the passing and running attack struggles in the red zone. The offense grinding to a halt as it neared the goal line is what tanked the season more than anything else. Hopefully this is a prime area of focus for both Nate and Clanton.

I'd love to see Hannika start at TE. Then a starting WR set of:
- Jaylen Higgins at X: can be our big WR substitute this year
- Y receiver of Greg Gaines/Jason Essex, best younger WR
- Z receiver of D. Stanley, he breaks more tackles and gets more yac than Noel. Stanley averaged about 13 yards per reception, Noel was 9

Not super impressive stats, but doubled up from his Freshman year. Fewer catches than Noel, but a huge upgrade from what we've seen with Shaw. Has the size to compete in the Big 12. Can't quickly find anything regarding speed or route concepts.

Overall a good pickup given how much we're lacking at WR.
Noel caught 60 and Higgins caught 59. Higgins averaged 13.1 ypc , Noel 9.5. Higgins caught 10 TDs, Noel 3. If you’re going to pretend to tell the story, tell the story.

It will be interesting to see if YAC was a player (WR) issue or offense issue.

I believe it was:
  1. Our offense had no vertical stretch. No deep passes. No 15-20 yard slants. Sideline outs, come backs & crossing patterns aren't going to get a lot of YAC when DB's are sitting on routes in front of them.
  2. Dekkers lacked accuracy. Seemed like receivers had to adjust stride to catch balls.
  3. Our WR's & TE's weren't very good blockers on WR screens.

Well then post the damn stats for every friggin game. Damn dude, you’re a douche in every thread where anybody tries to list pros and cons.

All I said was stats aren’t huge, but has the body and improvement year over year. That’s called a quick comment, not an in-depth analysis. Not saying he’s bad or assuming he’s the next X, somewhere in between - he’s the level of target we’re going to be most competitive with. Get over yourself.

I think he had 3 game winners dropped or doinked out of his hands

what a different tale ISU would have had this season is he manages to hang on to those. ISU is bowling, manning still has a job. He was still the brightest spot on an otherwise anemic offense though, even with those almosts

Plus some poorly timed drops.

Toss this guy into the receiver fold along with a sophomore Gaines and Stanley coming back for another year. Noel is obviously solid and returns as well. This could be a very good receiver group. Lots of potential.

I felt like Hutchinson and Hanika were our only above average receivers in 2022. Stanley and Noel had too many costly drops and that held us back. If they improve on that, you could be right.

I look to see Higgins’ ypc to drop a bit next year under CMC’s offense.
