Jay Williams comment about Morris

Uh, I would say Jalen Brunson is on ANY list of top 5 point guards. But so is Monte. You may have a heavy Big 12 bias.

He has a very good PER but it's lower than Monte's even if you want to break things out beyond totals and averages. His key point guard stats are clearly worse and it's a point guard award. He doesn't even score more points anyway if it were an "any guard" award.

The only thing he has on Monte or Evans is his team is ranked higher. So what if Villanova loses in the second or first round, how meaningful was it that his team was ranked higher when he produced less than those guys in every stat? Plus it's not like ISU and OK State suck or aren't dangerous teams.

Doug Gotlieb (sp) tweeted that morris is the best pg in big 12 history. KU fans imploded. Twitter broke.

Gottlieb said something nice about ISU?

Monte is obviously a better point guard than Mason.

Mason became a better scorer and shooter than Monte this year (and just about everybody else in the country regardless of position). There's no way he's a better ball handler or passer, it's not even a question.

The thing that never seems to ever be mentioned - Monte Morris probably has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the whole history of basketball during his career at ISU.

That's the point Fran was trying to make. You take Mason off KU and insert Monte do you think KU would have a better record with Monte or with Mason?

It's a tough decision.

For ISU we'd definitely be better with Monte because we already have great 3 point shooters, but nobody who can do what Monte does.

With KU they could probably be a 1 seed with either of them. Different type of team. Jackson and some other JHawks would have scored more with Monte than Mason. I'd probably say push if I had to.

I've been using the term "easily best ball handler in a generation of college basketball players" because the stat is only about 20 years old...but in that 20 years nobody is even close to him for a career total ratio.

Maybe you're right. Mason is a very good guard. He shoots well and is able to drive the lane and get fouls called.

Monte is good at running the team. Putting guys in place. Dissecting the defense. The job of a PG.

I'd like to look at his career assists and steals for just Big 12 players. We know he's the best at turnovers and ratio because he is in NCAA history let alone one conference.

He's not the best scoring point guard but I'd be surprised if he isn't top 10.

Gottlieb probably has an argument beyond just the homers here.

If assists are a 20-year old record, then how did Monte break Hornacek's record from the 80s?
