Jamie Pollard's Status at ISU

If JP does have problems in the future, it will not be for lack of trying. Whom would we get that is better?

can someone tell me if its a moderator or the language filter that is deleting my posts when i use swear words?

Anytime someone bypasses the language filter by differing the spelling of swear words, moderators can and will delete the posts then and there. That's what is happening to your posts.

Posts are also deleted if they contain namecalling/personal attacks.

Please refer to the site rules.

Next year we need to be at worst bubble team or bust with McDermott.

The 'Replacements' are gone (Thompson, Petersen, Haluska) and in come Pomlee, Christophersen, Gillstrap, and Colvin.

I'm really looking forward to ISU in '11. That should be the best year of the McDermott era by far. He will make his first trip to the NCAA tourney with ISU for sure if not in '10.

ok. fair enough. can you send me the site rules? i think there's a fine line between arguing and name calling...but its a great site, so i'm not gonna get bent about it.

thanks for responding. i assume it was you deleting my posts. give me a :biglaugh: if it was indeed you. throw me a bone here.

yeah, we went to 4 in the 70's. what i meant was he got us the first win.

There were plenty of teams in the 70's and even 80's that could have won their bowl game. BUT, there just weren't as many bowl games back then. There wasn't such thing as the Houston Bowl or the Insight.com Bowl. ISU had teams that were bowl eligible, but didn't get selected because there were about 1/3 the amount of bowls as there is now.

As for Pollard, if he gets the south endzone enclosed, IMO he can have a lifetime contract. His coaching hires...a majority of ISU fans agreed that Mac needed to go. A vast majority were pumped about the Chizik hire. It's not JP's fault that Chiz left. And most are now happy with the Rhoads hire. For BB, a vast majority were upset with Wayne Morgan and most were happy with the GMac hire. If things don't work out with GMac (I think he'll get it turned around), I have no problem with JP finding us a new MBB coach. JP made great hires in Wrestling and Volleyball (or did BVDV hire that coach?). The facilities improvements, fundraising, ticket sales and overall budget increase under Pollard have been great.

The athletic department is healthy.

Pollard is perfectly safe.

He has at LEAST as long as Paul Rhoads does, which is 3-4 years minimum before the heat gets put on him.

Pollard doesn't coach or play, he just hires the guys. Chizik was a great hire at the time. CPR seems to be what the doctor ordered at the moment. Revenue is up a ton under his tenure, and the athletic department is as healthy as it has ever been.

At the VERY least Pollard is a very competent AD. At best, he's a freaking genius.

I don't know why I'm even bothering to reply to this thread. The topic gets brought up on a regular basis, and it's stupid to even discuss it at this point.

kewl. i feel like the way this has gone (my spanking) has been more effective than my original post (trying to distract from this ludicrous talk-radio-stir-the-pot-debate thread). awesome. i love you all!

seriously, never had a post deleted b4 and have had about 308 beers, so its been a new thing for me - and it totally threw me ('have another' you're probably saying). still, no typos yet. so i got that going for me....which is nice

mccarney needed to go? he got us to the only bowl games we've ever been in. look what chizick did. id take mccarney over chizick any day.

pollard is a great AD, he just isnt winning. and thats a fact my friend.

Mac didn't need to go. However, he had reached a ceiling. Yes he got us to that bowl level but that was his limit. The evidence can be seen with the empty cupboard he left Chiz. Before you start telling me about how Chizik played his guys, look at what he left. Yes, there were some decent players in the senior and junior classes, but what about the ones that should have been juniors or seniors this year? There was basically nothing special. It is probably a long way until ISU is compateing for a National title, but as and AD, if that isn't your goal, then you are not doing your job. I don't care where you are, you need to have the goal to be the best. I think thats what Pollard thought and Mac wasn't going to bring that. As far as his security, he is fine. the reaosn is that he has brought in a ton of money and has made vast improvements in facilities as well as other things surrounding the program. The fact is that ISu doesn't have the big money boosters to donate a ton of money at a time to special projects. Every amount of money comes in small chunks and it is very hard to do large projects with just small chunks.

(beating a dead horse here)

SO. If i say 'shut up', i won't get my post deleted. but if i say a 2nd class swear word that rhymes with 'e-gag', that is out of bound.

Yes. I answered my own question. THAT was name calling. I'll stick to SHUT UP (which i tell my kids not to say!).

(cracking another beer).

Another friendly suggestion...

Please use the Private Message function to clarify any issues you may have with site moderation, so as not to derail threads.

Also, maybe not post drunk if you're having trouble with the site rules.

I think McDermott is still on the pace of his previous stays. (I remember someone posting the records of his previous teams at each school.) When you factor in the ridiculous circumstances he stepped into, Mac is still in line to make us a winner. Chizik and Morgan were both the rebound girl. Eustachy and McCarney were both bad break-ups. So we go for something different to fill the void. Ultimately, it almost never works out. A few years later we get a clearer head and realize what we really want, and settle down with "the one". I feel great about being with McD for the future. Hopefully, Rhoads will be the same. If nothing else, it feels right. With Chizik, the thread about his hiring was followed almost instantly by a thread about when will he leave. Rhoads is nothing like that. As far as Pollard goes, not every move has to be the final piece of the puzzle. So far he has made moves in the right direction. That is enough for me.
