Why do I have a sneaky suspicion that people wanting and being the most vocal about alcohol for sale to general public in the stadium will also be the most vocal about the the cost of a beer being $12 and then become angry when they are locked in and cant go out at halftime? We do all realize that this is an either or right? Not just a "those of you who prefer can do A, others can do B"

Well yeah, I get that. But how about the fans that don't want to leave and just want a beer or two during the 1st half, or during halftime? And say those are fans that did not participate in tailgating.

This makes some sense, yes. How much of an extra 'insurance' policy cost the university, to allow alcohol sales in the stadium? If pretty high, I could see a problem in reentry.

Every game still has at least 6 hours of tailgating, except for morning games (which are either 5 or 5.5).
I get that but don't they have ushers and people watching things to notice beer being passed to other people? You kick out a few people and that will probably stop.

Not disagreeing. Just taking what I have heard and connecting dots. Lawyers will always say there is failure opportunities when people are involved. Put a permanent wall up and you can reduce it even further and potentially allow for those usher to be reassigned while reducing your liability.

I totally get what you're saying but I was on the committee when we brought alcohol sales to UNI and both the distributor and the insurer flat told us its one or the other.
Also, Iowa State is one of two schools that we could find that allows re-entry at all regardless of whether alcohol is sold or not. It's a dinosaur at this point. Montana was the other and they killed it when they introduced an in-stadium beer garden.
I don't think I've ever been to another sporting event where reentry is allowed.
Places with in-stadium sales have seen great reductions in alcohol related incidents. When people know they can get beer inside, they don't slam the last two on the way in.
I've been going to games since 2001, and there has been a re-entry system in place dating back to at least then.
I've never understood those who leave at half and re-enter anyway, so I'll just jump into the convo and profess that, yes, if JP sells me a $10 domestic beer in stadium, I'll never leave JTS again (until I'm done singing Sweet Caroline).
Can we at least let Blum's crew sell the Ames Lager just outside of the gate?
Bring back the helmet cars for mobile ordering and a few kiosks outside of the fence for the halftime crowd.
