Jamie Pollard statement regarding ticket scanning process during home opener

Have people still been emailing their experiences to the Athletic Department post Pollard's email?
I sent him an email this morning with a concern I saw on Saturday. My dad went to get a couple of free tickets from a business that does a tailgate and gives out tickets at 1 game a year and they handed him a screenshot of the Ticketmaster barcode that changes every 15 seconds. He tried to tell the company about everything going digital and how the barcode wasn't going to scan but they said it'll be fine.

Luckily he didn't need the tickets but imagine if 10 companies who have 100 tickets each did exactly this, those 1,000 tickets that take 5 minutes each to resolve probably could cause half of the back-up experienced on Saturday. And I don't really blame the company because are they going to spend 20 minutes with each person transferring tickets and trying to explain how a wallet on their phone works? These are casual fans only showing up for free tickets, they have no clue about new ticket policies and they really shouldn't have to.

I just said give these companies printed tickets, you could probably even charge a little more for it and it wouldn't bother them at all. I can only imagine that this week's game has twice as many company tickets handed out the day of so if they don't clean this up lines might be just as bad. I did get a response right away that he appreciated the info, I'm sure he's got a full inbox between tickets, the wall, and everything else.

That's awful. At a minimum those seats should be discounted as obstructed view seats. But if you weren't notified of that before ticket renewal, that's just incredibly disappointing.
Saw that and couldn’t believe it. Hot and blocked the view, perfect for visiting team!
Just very hard to believe the decision making to have something like this allowed! Just not well thought out, and a horrible decision to put it in. It's not just the view, it blocks the wind flow, breeze. Makes you wonder.
From the other thread, sounds like the wall might be coming down. Stay tuned.
Please keep us informed (those who sit there). This wall needs to come down, this week! [Waste of time and money!]

One more comment to my last post here. It is kind of hypocritical to allow alcohol in the SEZ, but not to the rest of the fans, the 'serfs', so to speak. This a demarcation decision primarily defined by money. If it wasn't, alcohol would be prohibited there as well.

Allow alcohol in the first half and thru halftime, in the entire stadium. Just do it. If money is the issue, this will make the university some additional money, which always is needed, and should be relatively safe.

When the SEZ was built, they wanted to do something to make it more attractive to fans since endzone seats are normally considered to be among the worst seats in a stadium. So they added backs to these seats, cup holders, and the opportunity to purchase beer.

I think that's why alcohol has always been limited to this section (and the suites).

Jaime says that since COVID, they've lost 40% of their parking lot/ticket taker staff.

He said that over the weekend, they talked to the Vikings people and the College World Series people about their experience when they made the same transition. Both said it didn't go well the first time, but was immensely better the second time.

Jaime suggests that to be safe, you should get to the stadium by 1:45 or 2:00, but he believes it will go much smoother for those who don't arrive so early.

Pollard didn't notice that the stadium was nowhere near full at kickoff and wasn't aware of this problem until after the game? Whew...

honestly from my seats the AC and TVs looks like incentive enough for the people that sit in the SEZ.

Open beer up to the whole stadium, just let the SEZ have cheaper concessions or something. Imagine if we sold Ames Lager in the stadium.

Then you have to kill re-entry which pisses people off. There isn't an easy solution here since re-entry has been a thing for years longer at JTS than it has anywhere else.

Better pay and working conditions (maybe some awnings for shade?) would undoubtedly result in more people taking the job.
