Jalen Suggs info (recruiting)

If he's truly a 1 and done guy, I don't see it. He's going to go through an entire football season likely riding the bench as a true freshman, then leave for the NBA? What would be the point?

Just some ideas...

-- If he really likes football (and not necessarily at the expense of basketball, just that he really likes them both), then practice itself should be fun enough, even without games.

-- He might enjoy being outside during the nice weather, developing friendships and camaraderie that come with a sport that is so team-oriented as football should be.

-- It is good cross-training for basketball -- a coaching staff to keep him accountable about his conditioning in the basketball offseason, and perhaps in a way that is more fun than simply going to the gym, running, swimming, or working on cardio otherwise.

-- He gets to hang out with the stars of the football team, dress for games and watch them from the sideline on Saturdays (even if he never plays a snap), and has some chance to travel for road games, see some neat opposing stadium and fan bases, and will have a good chance to travel with the team for a bowl game. I would imagine all of that is a cool experience.

There are many potential benefits for an 18 or 19 year old young man to participate in the football team, even if he never actually plays a meaningful play.

Kid is smart to at least keep the idea out there, he looks like a stud in bball but you never know. Kyler Murray could have been playing pro baseball a couple years ago but made himself even more money playing football, hell he even got the A's to try to sweeten the deal after his performance on the football field.Being a two sport athlete or even people believing you could be is a smart idea from a brand standpoint, its super marketable.

Your truly saying you have a problem with Campbell giving a player a spot for 1 Year if that means the Mens Basketball Team gets a Top 10 5 Star player? Getting him to add to Craig McDonald may increase Iowa States chances to pick up 4 Star OLB Kaden Johnson as well since they are all friends. I don't see anything bad with Campbell taking one for the team and helping Prohm out.

No, I'm saying if he's truly one and done he won't come here as a two sport athlete with absolutely no chance to play QB.

If he is a one and done in Basketball is a starting QB job really that important?

Some of you guys are funny. If ISU has already told him that playing two sports is okay, then Campbell has already signed off on it. Simple enough?

Leave it to you to pile on w/ your head firmly inserted squarely up your ass.

Here it is one more time. If Suggs truly wants to pick a school where he can play both sports but will only be around for a year. He's going to pick a school where he has a shot to see the field as a QB. THAT'S NOT IOWA STATE!!!

Maybe he will see it as WR or Special Teams?

This. The staff loves Aidan Bowman and we haven't even offered Chubba.

Besides that, I'm guessing Chubba wouldn't probably want to follow in his brother's shadow so-to-speak. True? He'll want to make his own mark at another school.

I get the Idea of Suggs playing both sports is fun to debate and roster build for both Prohm & Campbell but I highly highly doubt it happens.

I remember and interview with him almost two years ago and he and his dad were debating even letting him play high school football. For obvious reason his safer path to for a potential career in pro sports is Basketball. Suggs has legit one and done potential to the NBA (with guaranteed contracts) vs three years and injury concerns in the NFL. He and his family are fully aware of the risks and he at the time admitted he would almost definitely be forced to choose one (basketball) in college.
It could happen as we have just seen Tyler Murray, becoming a top ten pick in (football and baseball) but TM is a little different since he was healthy and able to negotiate with the A's to allow him to QB at OU giving him his contract even if he was injured. Suggs won't have that safety net.

Finally, someone that looks at the whole picture. Suggs may end up staying more than one year but that isn't his plan. If he takes an opportunity to play both sports it will be at a school where he can compete for the QB job in the fall.

Kyler's alter ego I assume? :)
