Jalen Suggs info (recruiting)

Finally, someone that looks at the whole picture. Suggs may end up staying more than one year but that isn't his plan. If he takes an opportunity to play both sports it will be at a school where he can compete for the QB job in the fall.

But how many or what schools can anyone name (that also have a good basketball program) will have a true opening for a starting quarterback that can guarantee it to an incoming recruit with no spring ball, or previous program experience under his belt??

Not a good football program, but KU probably could offer that. And if not, throw in an extra ADIDAS duffel bag with a wink.

Take a look at his basketball offer list. The obvious answer sticks out big time.

That's why I think he'll back off on the idea to play football. It probably sounds good to him now, but once he sits down and thinks about the reality of trying to be a 1 and done, its just not going to make any sense to waste half the basketball season riding the bench as a backup QB. There is a chance he could start somewhere as a true freshman, but that is a very small chance at a P5 school.

Gonzaga is a great program but I can't imagine getting juiced up for 2 months of that conference schedule.

I always wonder about that too, but I'm sure the majority of the recruiting focus is the final 4s and tourney victories. I'm sure that plays well with a teenager who isn't thinking about the half empty games against their weak conference teams.

I just think it would be very difficult to be motivated and then watching all the other conferences...I'd get jealous. They've clearly done a great job with that program.

In their case they simply inverse their schedule...hard games up front with the non-conference schedule. I agree that it makes it harder to peak come tourney time, but they certainly play enough quality teams during the non-con to make up for the lack of quality in the conference.

This is true but it's also advantageous for Gonzaga to play those teams early in the season too. None of those teams are even close to "peaking" in November and December. Outside of the Pac12, conference play is a real mental grind for the other P5 teams when Gonzaga essentially has 2 months off.

They don't play as many tough games even doing that. Conference seasons are much longer than non-conference. It's not like big conference teams play zero tough non-conference teams.

So many of their fans lose interest during conference season. After 15+ wins by 20+ points it's hard to get excited.

GU just renegotiated their conference stuff as well knowing they are THE big dog...
