Jake Campos Injured

So - Tom Manning is now on the spot. OL COY has to show why he got the award. Losing the experienced starter and having freshmen to rely on? Staff loaded up on DB's and safeties - little depth at OL so the feeling must have been they were good right? I sure hope so - my season tix look a little less shiny today - all jacked with the coach and players raised relief, had my seatbacks ordered - now this. This other shoe dropping crap has to end - the absolute worst area to lose someone on this team. I drank that Kool-Aid like it was the elixir of life - just another snake oil charlatan trick by JP. Realize season has not started but getting bad vibes now from coach about players attitude and now injury. Walk ons beating out scoli players - man oh man. I chastised others in another thread about wearing cardinal and gold glasses - I am now tasting crow and it sucks!.

I briefly hovered over the Disagree emoji, moved over to the Dislike emoji, and finally gave up. Where's the "this post completely sucks" emoji?

Holy god... Wow

The Campos injury is going to help at the end of the season or next year.... I will always see the light in a situation, just give me a chance!

I firmly believe if the staff would of found 1 or 2 more quality, immediately usable jc or graduate lineman they would of signed them up. They could of signed more, but I tend to go with the old adage..."You can't make chicken soup out of chicken ****." For some reason, it seems there are more db's available that have better credentials in jc or grad situation.

Also, I'm sure of one thing. This was discussed with the full team this morning with concept of "next man in". This staff had to play Northen Ill one year with a fourth string QB who was a receiver who ran the wildcat formation at qb only. It was for spot in MAC championship game. The team fought the entire game and lost by less than one TD to a ranked opponent. I was impressed with the character all showed from Campbell down.

I'm not happy w/ the injury, but still feel the staff will get the most out of the available players on oline.

Is this Jake's second missed season due to injury? Otherwise, I don't know what all this medical redshirt talk is about. You need to miss 2 seasons due to injury to be granted a 6th year.

Not necessarily, Case Keenum was a redshirt senior when he tore his ACL and was granted a medical redshirt for his 6th year of eligibility. He only missed one season due to injury and he redshirted his freshman year.

Can you tell me where you're seeing this, that you have to miss 2 seasons due to injury?

I've always known the medical redshirt requirements to be that you can't play more than [30%] of the games in a season, and can't play in the second half of the season.
I think that's the correct percentage of games.

Is football different from other sports? Naz just got a medical redshirt in basketball for last season. He didn't miss 2 seasons.

Maybe this has changed or like I said, is different for football.

With Campos out the offensive line (excluding Bobek) has a combine one career start. That start belongs to former walk-on Nick Fett.

And...

Nick Fett has a walking boot on left foot. Said it's an ankle injury and he'll be fine by the end of the week.

Naz got the extra year because he hadn't redshirted prior...

I would say Keenum's situation is definitely the exception and not the rule. The vast majority of medical redshirts require two missed seasons due to injury if they have taken their redshirt already.
