Jacob Park to transfer

It said something in the article about Kempt trying to get a 6th year and Park not liking that. The only thing I can think of is that Park was intending to stay at ISU but didn't like the idea of having to win back his job from Kempt. So once that idea was cemented in his head, he figured he had to transfer.

The problem is, there's no guarantee Kempt gets that 6th year. I don't even think it's probable, much less likely.

I think part of the problem was that ISU fans didn't beg for him to come back and save us. We were happy with Kempt and Noland and the calm, steady presence they provided. Maybe this didn't jive too well with Parks ego.

I honestly don't understand Parks reasoning. The team and fans opening stated that they would welcome him back on multiple occasions. He remained part of the team the entire season and the coaches wanted to talk to him, so they didn't shut him out.

Yes, what do we 'know', if anything, about this so called Kempt 6th year? Is he actually trying for it? And to think a guy like Mike Warren who has had to take a back seat after being in the spotlight as a freshmen, came out with the supportive fanbase tweet, makes me proud of him more, plus wonder what the heck is really going on. I mean, since this was a register story, with parting shots to the fans, don't the fans deserve some explanation vs. speculation? Maybe I just didn't read this board earlier in the season, but other than his leave of absence for health issues, we hadn't been updated on anything about Park the whole rest of the season. Hard for the fans to "turn on him" when we didn't even know, muchless hear, if, when, or how, he was connected to the team or its future. But obviously I have no clue what Park was hearing, thats why its so frustrating to have him lump the whole fan base and question their "loyalty".

Everything he did is standard procedure in 2017. Get the scoop, publish the story online (in this case, with a line that Campbell couldn't be reached for comment), then continue to update as quotes come in. It wasn't an investigative piece; he was reporting the news that Park was transferring, and he included quotes from Park. If he had omitted the contentious ones, he wouldn't have been doing his job.

I know Cyclone fans have a bit of (not necessarily unwarranted) animosity towards the media, but Birch did nothing remotely wrong here.

Just curious, what do other posters mean that the content of the story has been changed or updated? What was added that the original didn't include?

At least he made the edits. Most reporters wouldn't.

For future reference, what 'edits' are you referring to? I'm confused. Was or was this not a story that was printed for the Register? How was it edited?

There were several versions of the story on Monday night as he got reaction to to the news.

Good luck Mr. Park. Hope everything works out for you. This situation will be similar to what you face in future employment. Hope this learning experience helps. It didn't work out like you hoped. It also didn't work out well for the coaches, players, and fan base either. Hopefully, you can look back on this some day and say, "now I get it." If you can, then it was time well spent. As for me, I am now officially "PP" - Post Park. Time to focus on bowl game and recruiting classes.

Quibble with 1 point... I think it worked out great for the team. They have consistently rallied around their true teammates, coaching staff and fan base and now they are doing it again.

In the end, IMHO, addition by subtraction. Park bought time for KK and Zeb and allowed for the massively successful position switch for Joel. Lots of winners in this and only 1 real non-winner. But the non-winner has been given a roadmap for success... Take responsibility!

Bear with me here but I have come up with a solution to this mess. My wife and her friends would play a game with fortune cookies when we were kids. It goes like this:

Read your fortune and at the end of it add "in bed". It's hilarious.
This game can be applied to anything Tommy Birch says except at the end if his statements add "while propositioning a hooker".

You can also use it for Jacob Park statements but for him you would add "while smoking weed"

Trust me hilarity will ensue.

I honestly don't give a **** about Jacob Park. He's a waste of talent. We all have crap in our lives, it's up to each person to own that crap. I don't respect people, like Jacob, who don't.

Who I feel terrible for is his daughter. Her dad has the ability to set this kid up for life with his million dollar arm. However, because he has a ten cent brain, she's probably not going to be able to count on him for much if anything, and that is really sad.

FWIW, I really, really hope I am wrong about the second part.

Amen to that. And on that note, let's close the thread.

Just a few quotes from Park that I can remember off the top of my head. They are not exact but this is how I remember them. Please correct me if I am remembering them wrong.

I remember him saying something about how college football and NFL are not that different. Basically saying that football comes easy to him at any level.

The second one I remember is him saying that he probably watches more film than the coaches.

At the time these quotes seemed great and positive. But looking back after seeing how the situation turned out, they seem a bit arrogant. But hindsight is 20/20, so.

Now that we all got that built up venom out of our systems and saturated the douche that Park is with it. The question I'm interested in is:

Where is he going to transfer too? Like legitimately? Cal Poly? UC Davis? Some smaller school? If so, hes going to win a few games for sure. Actually, Wyoming needs a new stud, maybe they'll take him?

I don't care what he said, this is totally uncalled for.

I'd go out on a limb and say he may be done playing football. I don't know anything, but a school would be taking a chance on him by taking him in.

Who knows. Who cares.

Maybe Harbaugh wants him too?? jk
