Jack Trice throwback uniforms again?

AGREE!!! I like the solid colors Cardinal on Cardinal or Gold on Gold. We obviously need to do something to get better recruits. Once again we will start doing this stuff 5 years from now when changing up uniforms will become "old news". Look how bad are football facilities were compared to the rest of the league and then once we finally upgraded them it's only good enough to compare them the same as most other schools in the league!

1. Need to have at least 4 Uni options.

2. No more Smoke on the Water intro.

Anybody who thinks the uniforms gets recruits when everyone is doing it is sniffing glue. I agree that adding an alternate with a white helmet would be cool just for a change here and there but it does nothing for recruiting. Only using the white with the white jerseys.

The current uniforms are the first worn by isu since I have been born that weren't constantly made fun of by everyone. These are only criticized by cyclone fans yearning for more ugly.

The current ones follow two of the most important rules of looking good. Keep it simple and don't add extra colors. Two-color uniforms are by far the best.

ps. To those people saying put a different symbol on each side of the helmet. That's one of the worst ideas ever. You lose balance and it looks like @**.

Don't knock Sweet Caroline. It's the only 3 mins of the entire game where the students enjoy themselves. Why would we take that away? Some might only show up for that.

If someone's dumb enough to buy a ticket just so they can listen to a single Neil Diamond song, I'm pretty sure they're dumb enough to be convinced to buy a ticket for other reasons.

I know I'm in the minority but I love those. I always thought a yellow version of the helmet would be slick with that.

I'd actually like to see the red jersey and red pants look. I think with the red helmet it would look pretty sharp and add another uniform option. Don't really mind the yellow on yellow either. Ideal road would be white helmet, white jersey and white pants.

This is what I'm talking about for a home uni look. I think this should definitely be in the rotation for home games and would be great to open up with against UNI. Not sure why they haven't gone with this look before.

We would look like ketchup bottles like that. The McCartney-era red/red/red blood clot wasn't a good look.

We already have/have worn six options with the current set:

Cardinal-Cardinal-Gold
Cardinal-Gold-Cardinal
Cardinal-Gold-Gold
Cardinal-White-White
Cardinal-White-Gold
Cardinal-White-Cardinal

That's plenty of options. I wouldn't mind seeing a white helmet for an all-white set as a special thing, or maybe white helmets or white jerseys and cardinal/gold pants, but, yeah, we've already got options.

I know some people really like the older style ISU uniforms but I personally have never liked ISU's uniforms regardless of what era. However, I think this would be one of the coolest uniforms not only in the history of ISU but of any current team. Having "Trice Stripes" is something very unique to ISU. Best part, no "clown colors" in this design. I-State logo works fine with this too if the cyclone is a no go. Too bad it won't ever happen despite the obvious draw of cool uni's these days.

If you don't think adding some great uniform combinations would at least give us a chance at stealing a recruit or two from mid level teams then you are sniffing glue. If has been proven that recruits go for the bling and for championship caliber teams.

People hated the Funnel logo the moment it was introduced. That we associate it with the Criner era (the worst of the worst in Cyclone history, the era that set us up for the Walden years and an era that many look at as one and the same as the Walden years), should be ample reason to leave the logo in the dustbin of history. The whole introduction of the Funnel logo may be enough to suspect that those pushing for this may ultimately be hawk trolls, but I will leave that insinuation for others.

I like the Trice inspired uniforms, but feel like the execution of the design when applied to the actual uniforms worn most recently was poor.

If a recruit needs a unique uniform to choose a school they are 1. Immature or 2. Not self motivated or 3. A Prima Donna and not the right type of Blue Collar kid we need at ISU.
The Jack Trice throwbacks should be worn once a year to bring awareness of the Jack Trice story. THAT is a recruiting tool/ story that is unique to ISU!Wear them for Texas I say.

1.) Of course they are immature. They are 18 years old.
2.) What the hell does looking good and feeling good have to do with being self motivated?
3.) I didn't realize that ISU was in a position to be so selective of talented players that we'd rather they go to other schools.

When you are building a program and brand you don't go switching your look each game. We are not Oregon, we are iowa State. As someone else already pointed out we already have 2 versions of throwbacks and many other combinations we can use to change things up.

I like our current jerseys and feel like the Trice story is an OBVIOUS marketing tactic we should use at least once a year. Those uniforms stand out on nationally televised games, and will get kids interested in ISU, especially Black athletes in the South.

Ask Bill Snyder how sticking to a brand has worked for him. We don't need a gimmick, we need mature players who understand what being a Cyclone is all about, not campaigning for our Fashion Merchandising majors to wack out our unis. Work with the gymnastics team if you are dead set on creating new uniforms.

I posted this in a previous thread but since people still want to argue that uniforms don't matter, here ya go.

“Everywhere I go across the state and nation, the No. 1 theme with recruits and fans is Baylor has the best unis,” Briles said.

While recruits choose football programs where they can best develop their athletic and academic potential, it doesn’t hurt to look good. A flashy uniform (or two or three or four) can help coaches sell the program.

“When you’re young, the first thing you’re going to look at is uniforms,” said Baylor sophomore receiver KD Cannon. “Some people feel you look good, you play good. I like (Baylor’s uniforms) because you don’t want to come out with the same old plain uniforms. We have a variety to choose from each and every game.”

This from a program and coach that allowed a Rapist on their football team. But at least he looked good in his Baylor uniform:)

The fact that they let a rapist on campus has nothing to do with the fact that recruits like their uniforms.

First, have you never seen a :) before? Second, the profile of kid we need is more K State then Baylor. We need highly mature disciplined kids in the program ala EJ Bibbs team players and not "all about me" guys.

Can someone recreate these with the current colors and helmet, numbers on top of shoulder pads, and remove cyclone imprint from jersey? Curious to see how it would look as it is the most likely scenario if these jerseys were to come to fruition.

1) Liking the uniform(s) you are going to wear for the next 4 or 5 years doesn't necessarily make a player the "all about me" type. That is a pretty broad generalization.
2) If you spend any time with kids or around youth sports, and not just football, you will see that uniforms and how you look matters.

Why do you think Nike and UA have spent so much money developing cool looking shoes, undershirts, gloves, and now full uniforms. People buy cool looking stuff. Go watch a youth football game anywhere from K-12 and you will see all kinds of flashy uniform accessories. How anyone can say it doesn't matter is beyond me.
