If you looked at this site today, it sure seemed like there was a larger majority of Cyclone fans willing to unite behind the overall good fortune of the Panthers today than our own team towards the end of the season.

Just my observation, but it's odd seeing our fans take more joy in a Northern Iowa win than Iowa State wins, including the K-State win.

Explanation: The ISU win was at the end of a very very disappointing season. The UNI win was against the #1 freaking team in the nation in the NCAA tourny.

While I do understand your point (please don't feel this is an attack at you because it's not), you must admit the this UNI game today meant allot more than ANY game ISU has played in the last 4+ years.

I think it is just a sign at how much our fans want to be in those shoes again. Just the thought of being in the dance seems sweet now-a-days, let alone a trip the the Sweet16!

What was there to root for all year except the win over KSU? Dude we finished under .500 with our best team since the the LE era.

It was an amazing upset. It doesnt have anything to do with how we feel about the Cyclones!

The Kansas State win was great!!

I'm happy for UNI.

Iowa State will back there some day. And when we are, we will all appreciate it more. Got to believe!

Agreed.
Agreed.
And Agreed.

How dare those ISU fans have the right to cheer for any other team in the country!!! :jimlad: Come on, march madness is the greatest time of the year. ISU's season is over. Move on and enjoy the next few weeks of great basketball.

To me it's odd that you use this phrase, but then don't mention that we lost 9 of our last 11 games. Seems like selective recall to me...

It makes me ill that Northern Iowa, which was lucky to beat us this year has just had a season close to better than any ISU season in history. I just can't say that I'm happy. Being an ISU fan I'm always for the underdog, but in this case it just feels more like a kick in the nuts.

I wasn't rooting for UNI. I don't care for them. I was happy for coach Jacobson. Great win and the guy basically won the lottery today. Even though I was rooting for KU, I have a great deal of respect for what UNI accomplished today.

I was very pumped up about the K-State win btw. Even though our season was a joke, it was a nice bright spot.

This pretty much sums it up. While I was jacked to see ISU beat the #5 team in the nation in their house, in all reality, it didn't mean a whole heck of a lot in the big picture.

UNI just beat the overall #1 seed in the tourney and took all of the expert's #1 pick out of the running.

it'd be amazing that Gmac isnt our coach next year...but i think the uni game reminds me of a proverb, "a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then."

One of the biggest upsets in NCAA history

And it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of guys i.e. Bill Self and KU

I've always rooted for UNI unless they play us

I agree. I miss being scared to death for our own guys in the tournament.

Until UNI beats Maryland and heads to the Elite 8.. lol

We have 2 20 win seasons since 1997.... we need to quit acting like we have been good in anyone's recent... or distant history.
