It could have been worse

Someone get a bucket for all these tears. Losing to a top ten team with a better coach. What a travesty.

So's a discontent loser. Difference is I'm happy and you aren't. I'll take happy in this case.

You're not happy because you have no sense of humor about how bad Iowa State football is yet again. You're a fake.

Please. Any analysis of this game should deal with the first half only - and it was 35-7. The second half was irrelevant. It was garbage time for Baylor. Tons of fans left at halftime, because the game was over...

That's crap. Baylor wasn't tanking in the second half. They were still playing and you can bet your *** that they wanted to put up 70 against Iowa State.

The team showed me something in the second half last night.

I hope nobody expected a win vs. Baylor. We honestly may not beat them for a long time with their style of offense, which doesn't let weak defenses catch up when they fall behind.
As a fan I expect to win every game, I assume the team does too

If you look at my post history, you'll know I'm an Iowa State fan and always have been. I don't let bad losses bother me all that much. I was very critical of Messingham at OC and I've always been critical of Rhoads's inability to establish a clear direction for the offense.

I don't like losing, and gain absolutely nothing by defending Rhoads. I defend him because I'm not sure there's a better coach for Iowa State. If you can't understand that then I truly feel sorry for you.

Judging by how much they ran in the second half vs how much they ran in the first half would suggest they took the foot off the grass. And Petty missed a number of deep passes where the receiver was open. It could have been worse....for reasons outside of ISU's control.

They ran in the second half because it was working, not because they were taking their foot off the gas. We were covering their receivers pretty well and their throwing game wasn't working as well as it normally does.

Not a better coach? It wouldn't take much to surpass what he has done here. He has won 2-3 big games in 6 years.

Amen. Baylor of the first half vs. Baylor of the second was like night and day.

For the most part --- ditto. We have different coping mechanisms. Mine is gallows humor and vodka tonics. Been an ISU fan since mid 60s. Too old to learn any new tricks. Peace.

It's hard to win here. It's hard to win here against the schedule we currently face. Not impossible, but a challenge. Chizik couldn't do it, McCarney would not be successful in the current Big 12, Walden, Criner, Duncan. Earle Bruce is the only coach we've had in the modern era who I think would be doing better than Paul Rhoads now.

So with that I ask you, who could we hire who would do better than Rhoads has. Remember, CPR did go to three bowl games in four years.

I didn't leave at halftime against OSU, but I bet you did.

Why would anyone leave at halftime of a 17-7 game? Last night was 35-7. Huge difference, and the way CPR ended the half, I dont blame anyone for leaving. ISU had 50 seconds, and two TO's. Should of tried to score knowing you got the ball to start the second half. ISU played scared.

I disagree.

I agree. And that's why all the boos rained down. Rhoads was afraid of the score getting worse.
