ISU vs UNI..

Correct, If meyer get benched for any reason. we should see both Bates and Arnaud. Everyone is impressed with Bates' Maturity already. Its going to take a pretty poor performance to get Meyer benched.. if he throws INTs like he did the other night.. I think it will happen. But like i said, Meyer is ready to step it up, he has a sense of urgency

It really bothers me that he has to step it up at all.

I dont think you are the only one. Ofcourse it is frustrating to see him play how he did. I still remember like it was yesterday... ISU takes lead in north, Meyer throws for 345 yards to defeat Nebraska. We know he can... thats why it makes it so hard for us

Not really.. Just chizik getting his feet wet.. same as we did with Bates.. getting those young guys out on the field really helps out, they eliminate alot of jitters and build confidence. I think we are set at RB for now. I did want to see Cameron Bell in there, but i am plenty happy with JJ

I can't recall, did Bell see time on defense?

It is curious that Bates was in there, I thought for sure he'd be redshirted this year and Arnaud & Bates would duke it out for the QB spot in '08.

That end around with Bates totally sets us up to let him throw it next time. Gotta love him seeing the field as a true fresh. Kid must be the real deal.

I dont think that Cameron was out on defense, I loved seeing Bibbs out there.. Cameron changed his number to 10 since he went to D

Meyer was a good QB when no one knew who Todd Blythe was. Now, his best weapon at WR is constantly targeted and double teamed. Meyer is an OK QB but it was Blythe that made him look "great". Just my opinion, of course.

Cameron did NOT see the field. i just confirmed that... We have other good recievers, blythe still had 5 receptions for 65 yards and a TD.. he was wide open several times, Including when Meyer tried squeezing a pass in to Barkema that was Picked off. Wallace Franklin should become a part of the threat. and RJ Sumrall is one of the most elusive guys on the team. we just have to get them the ball!

I am excited to see Bass throughout the season. I think he is the first legit Big 12 RB we have had since Ennis.

You can all say I am crazy, but I like what I saw for the most part out of the offensive line. I know they made mistakes (false starts and missed blocks) but compared to last year I think this group is way ahead. I was extremely disappointed with the outcome, but I saw glimpses of great stuff.

I want to see ISU impose their will and dominate on the lines next weekend. Let's hope the D-line can stay fresh and gain an average of 20lbs apiece for the next game!

Hrmm.. was it special teams or defense though? doesnt really matter.. However.. some of you may be interested to know that Meyer threw his INTs on the same play call... I say we trash that play now

I noticed that (see this thread).

Thanks for confirming that though...and I agree, time to ax that play.

However, I do want to see more balls thrown to Barkema. IMO, tight end was way underutilized both last year and in '05.

We love to roll out...so where's the play (that follows roll out right, roll out right) where we roll out right, looking to pass that way - sneaking a tight end out to the left and throwing back to him? It's a VERY effective play.

When will Bret Meyer come out looking like the best QB? It's been awhile since I can say "We at ISU had the better QB today!" He makes the other team's QB look better by comparison...and I do have to say, I don't like his chances of totally outplaying Eric Sanders head-to-head. I really can't say right now if we will win or not, I seriously have no clue. I'll be there to cheer as loud as ever for my Clones, but I just hope that UNI comes into Ames WAY overconfident and we play up to potential (FOR ONCE) and bring them back down to earth.

Ben Barkema is an outstanding TE, I agree.. I really loved having Walter Nickel as well

UNI is also out for blood. They are looking for an ubndefeated season and we are in the way. Their qb is very expeienced and will do well. I predict our offense will be better and our defense will have a tough time. I say our d line still was pushed around by Kent State. No pressure after first two plays.

We are gonna need to get JJ rolling RIGHT away and often...Bret needs to get the pressure off his back for awhile to make plays, he needs things to set up and come to him rather than be forced to keep drives alive. I look for Bass to do really good things against UNI's D. I don't feel as good about our D, we have good players back there and a stud in Bowen, but we NEED to get pressure in on Sanders and keep him scrambling for his life.

ISUClones33, I am in the same boat as you in that I think we will see a great game out of Meyer against UNI.

I didn't see the KSU game; did we try to get Meyer going with some dink and dunk stuff? This seems to me to be what we need to do both for confidence reasons, and to simply get the ball in the hands of our team's strength, which is supposed to be our WRs.

33, have you heard anything about any possible position changes? Some guys I might be looking at losing a starting spot include Robinson (duh), Singleton and maybe looking to get someone bigger than Braaksma on the line.

And find a new punt returner! He was ridiculous with 2 fumbles! He's not ready for the big time & had the deer in headlights look...
