ISU vs UNI postgame thread

CB had a hell of a game, but he still has a lot to improve in. What weren't you happy with tonight? I saw a couple of tire fade aways, but he was pretty good otherwise for a PF playing center.
At is some needed muscle on D once we get into the Big 12 season.
DG gets better and better every game, when he is on the court he should be playing PG. I would modify that to say that when he is on the court he should be looking to dribble penetrate or post the guard playing d on him.
It look like the game plan was get DG and CB the ball and scrap the 3 for the night. Huh? That was true in the OT and maybe the last minute or two of the game, but we spent much of the game looking for the three.
Petey is a good player but plays best when he is not at the point.Agreed. He is a opportunistic away from the ball (i.e. rebounds and jumping passing lanes) but scares me with the ball in his hands going into traffic.
Wes is going to be a great player even though he is from small town Nebraska.
This was a great experence for a young learning team. They can build on this win. Amen

The TV picture wasnt good at all. More lighting anyone.

No need for a coach McD interview Sean H just took care of it for him. Seems like a smart kid, that knows what they are wanting to do. Shows how important it is to let guys learn Mcds system.

Wow, I just got back from the game. That was a really fun game to watch. Good college basketball game.

I think there are three reason that we lost:

1. We never doubled Brackins and played him one on one the whole game and he got whatever he wanted. I can't figure out why we did not adjust to this the whole game.

2. The officiating inside. It was impossible to play D in the post without getting some crap foul called. They called TONS of ticky tack fouls on us inside while the ISU guards were pushing off the entire game.

3. Three point shooting. They just would NOT fall for us. Dammit. Good looks too. Good shooters. Can't believe they just would not fall.

I really thought that the Panthers outplayed the Cyclones tonight. We just shot horrible from 3. That is a big part of our game. If just a couple more of those fall, we win easily.

Good game by the Cyclones. Good job down the stretch. Good luck the rest of the year.

Nice post, Panther. The ISU commentators were exasperated at the calls against us, so that's interesting that you say the calls went against the Panthers at home.

1. If you double down the 3 would be open since there were 4 shooters in most of the game.

2. The refs had problems both ways. When they said Hillary was one ref I knew why.

.

classic. you can see why so many uni fans are actually hawkeye fans attending uni...they think the same way. What really happened tonight is a program on the rise passed a program that has peaked, on its home court.

For what it's worth, you shot 6-32 from 3 (18.8%) and we shot 2-14 (14.3%). It's a big part of our game, too. We kind of run a similar system, you know.

1. When you tried to stop CB thats when Diante took over... so you didnt really have a choice

2. Of course it was the officials... bitter

3. Your team did have a bad night, but they took 32 three pointers... thats their own fault for not looking inside more where they were actually having success

i would not say either team out played the other... ISU came out on top because of superior talent and depth

3 Positives
1. We won
2. Brackins
3. DG in overtime

3 Negatives
1. Peterson running the point the last 4 mins of regulation (Though he had a solid game)
2. Brackins barely touching the ball in OT (Though they played good D on him)
3. Haluska leaving his man wide open for the tying 3 pointer to double team a guy driving to the basket with 6 seconds left (No way to spin that one)

Great effort. Good D. And a W.

2. The officiating inside. It was impossible to play D in the post without getting some crap foul called. They called TONS of ticky tack fouls on us inside while the ISU guards were pushing off the entire game.

I think the officiating was pretty crappy overall, for both teams.... however, UNI got just as many, if not more iffy calls to go their way.

Good game by you guys too. (But we still won!)

His D needs work and he needs to be stronger at time. Other than that he had a great game. I think it is great he can play so good and he can do so much improving.

Why is nobody talking about the fact that the game should've been over because that wasn't a three from the corner? They only had one camera angle and it was far away but it was clearly a two...unless you're using last years line.

Not to be that guy...but everyone is quick to talk about the pressure on Mac...is there any pressure on Jacobson? 4-3 to start this year. 3 straight NCAA bids under Mac but haven't sniffed it yet under Jacobson. I like Jake and think he's a good coach...but just saying.

The pussycats out played us? Send me some of what you are smoking tonight. If we would have hit a average number of threes, the game would have been a blow out and over with 10 minutes to go.

The officials cost you the game? They were equally bad for both teams.

Bottom line is you guys got out coached.

Never is a stretch, but they sure didn't do it often. Looked like that was your gameplan, though

2. The officiating inside. It was impossible to play D in the post without getting some crap foul called. They called TONS of ticky tack fouls on us inside while the ISU guards were pushing off the entire game.

Refs called the game equally bad for both teams, IMO. Of course, had ISU lost I'd probably be saying the same thing you are.

3. Three point shooting. They just would NOT fall for us. Dammit. Good looks too. Good shooters. Can't believe they just would not fall.

Didn't fall for ISU either.

I think ISU barely outplayed UNI. UNI looked disorganized at times.

Good game by the Cyclones. Good job down the stretch. Good luck the rest of the year.

I wasn't happy with the way he was hell bent on shooting the ball when he had poor position. But we definitely don't win this game without Craig.

agree. anybody that doesn't see A LOT of room for improvement in his game has cyclone blinders on. He needs to take it with authority a little more, improve his foul shooting, and PLAY DEFENSE every time. He had a great game but he isn't NBA ready yet.
