ISU vs. TT: 'I knew it was over when ...'

When I saw them on the field before the game started. They all looked cold and inactive. I knew we would have our way with them.

I hit the restroom to warm up and not very many people were in there. They were watching the game.

When a particular moment occurred which foreshadowed everything we needed to know about the outcome of this game, I knew it was over. That being how Kingsbury was conceived, due to a shoddy and worn out diaphragm that wasn't stopping anything.

From there it was preordained he would take the throne at Texas Tech university, and the sieve of the apocalypse would be upon those poor, wretched west Texas folk.

When Texas Tech got off the bus looking to get back on the bus.

Actually it was at the beginning of the 4th, didn't worry about the Curse of Caroline.

My point was 42-3.

35-3 might have done it, but it came at about midway thru 2nd quarter.

You haven't been a Cyclone fan very long have you?

When it was 45-3, all I could think was that TT averages 46 pts a game, so since we're ISU we'll probably lose this thing 46-45 somehow.

In the 2nd half when we started off with a 3 and out and then TT scored to make it 45-10 I was already getting nervous. But when we answered to make it 52-10, then I felt pretty comfortable. Past ISU teams wouldn't have answered and TT would have made a comeback.

I know a bunch of Clone fans who thought the same thing at halftime.....someone said we might lose this 48-45....but...Remember Paul Rhoads(there I spelled it correctly this time...lol) Regime is gone, but it will take a few more years of winning to get out of that mindset.....imho Losing breeds Losing and Winning breeds Winning....

2 conference wins in a row....way to go cyclones...now lets beat the mountain men and go to 4 wins.....

TxTech averages 46 points per game. So at halftime with ISU up 45-3, I was not quite certain. But by the end of the third quarter, with TxTech looking so down, it became obvious. But with so many instances of allowing 30+ point comebacks in our history, it made it very difficult to celebrate until the final gun.

I'd say the Touchdown pass to Hakeem Butler to make it 28-3 put me at about 95% confidence, and then the KCM interception less than 2 minutes later sealed it.

Good thread.

Sad that even at 45-3, I was still uncomfortable going into the second half. Seen too many collapses to be comfortable. But when we responded to their TD with a score of our own, I was good.

Once we got into the 40s. Figured it would be near an all time record if Tech came back from being down 39 points

About 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter and they hadn't scored 3 straight touchdowns to cut the lead in half.

This is about where I was. I was pretty confident at halftime, but I knew if we could make it about 5-6 minutes into the 3rd quarter with the same lead it would have been damn near impossible to blow that lead.

Not so much knowing when we had the victory sealed up, but I there was one time I can think of as being the turning point of the game.

I think it was Tech's possession either before or after the pick-6, but our defense was getting loose and cocky and Tech had a couple big plays to get down into or near the red zone. CMC called a time out and chewed out our guys, letting them know they can't slack off. Our D held and forced a turn-over on downs after Mahomes threw a pass that the WR caught out-of-bounds out the back of the endzone.

My Dad and I talked later and thought that was one of the best uses of a timeout we've had in a while. Get the defense to stop the cocky BS and get their focus straightened out. Great coaching moment.
