When does everyone think the lots will open? My wife use to work for the parking division when we attended ISU and they opened the lots 2 years ago 10 hours before the Iowa vs. ISU game. The game started at noon, and the lots opened at 2 am.

Last year the parking division only opened the lots 6 hours before the Nebraska vs. ISU game.

So, do you think they will open them on the normal 6 hours before the game, or will they open them early like 2 years ago?

If this thread is in the wrong location I apologize and feel free to move.

5 am. or sometime very close. Even thought its the Iowa game, there wont be too many people waiting at before 5 am IMO.

Were gonna head up so we get there about 5:30 or 6 i think.

Just wondering when I need to get up. I have hotel rooms at the Best Western across the street from the Gateway Hotel. I don't want to miss any time tailgating though.

I had to miss some last game. Very, very frustrating.

If you want to be positive that you don't miss any... Go there Friday night and get into line. That way, you are there when they open the lots up. Start your tailgating Friday night!

Actually I have been thinking about it. We have 3 vehicles we are taking in, so might have 3 cars that will all be tailgating.

Do it. Just get in line, get out of the car, and start tailgating. You can sleep in your car, wake up, and start tailgating again.

Which lots are you referring too? The donor lots or student lots? BC 2 years ago, the student lot had a gigantic line by 11 pm on friday.

This statement is only true for parking pass lots - if you want to get in one of the south grass lots you'd better be in line early. Two years ago we were the last one in G4 and got in line well before 5AM.

I asked in another thread but no one responded - My wife and I are planning on getting in line around 3. Would that be early enough to get into the "student lot" (G4 I think)?

Student lot is G2 and kind of G3.
If you reallly wanted to be safe and make sure you get in there, I'd be there at Midnight. That line grows VERY fast and starts early.

Yup, i was talking parking pass lots. I havent been in the student lot for almost a decade. I am old geezer of 31.

I could drink most students under the table still. And I am willing to prove it this Saturday!!! Just dont tell my wife.

Sounds like my pops. He likes to drink his beer. I haven't seen anyone beat him in a beer chugging contest. One time my friend, who was in his early 20's, challenged my dad and my dad beat him with a 16oz can while my friend had a 12oz can.

Geezer tailgate

We heard that the lot immediately around Hilton is a public lot (pay for single game only). Is that true? We are looking for a place to tailgate in a bit more, ahem, family friendly environment. It might not be quite as enjoyable for the Geezers, but it also won't be quite as eye-opening for the younger kids as the student lot.

I think that is still true. However, I don't think you're allowed to tailgate around your car in those lots. Not exactly sure but I think that is how it goes.
