I think one (of many) issues that ISU has is that the Clones don't have a "run breaker". When the opposition starts to put a run on, you need a guy who can draw a foul and get to the line for FTs. That could be a guard who can take his man off the dribble, penetrate and get up a decent shot and draw contact/foul, or a post player who can make a strong move to the hoop and draw contact/foul.
That stops the flow of the game, disrupts the opposition momentum, and gives you a chance to score points. IMO, Hubalek and Clark, the seniors, should be the ones trying to get to the line during those runs. Unfortunately, I don't think Hubalek has strong enough post moves to do it in the Big 12, and ISU doesn't seem to run many plays for Clark.
This sort of thing, where ISU is up in the second half and then gives up a big run to the other team has happened several times this year. ISU has got to get better at breaking up those big runs.
ISU only shot 12 FTs...got to find a way to get that up around 20. Unfortunately, I don't think ISU has the personnel to do that in the Big 12 right now...
