Yeah, only GEICO and Progressive push harder.Sports books spam everybody. They aren't specifically picking out athletes.
Betting on (or against) your own team is an issue of game integrity, and, as others have stated, an absolute no-brainer for a lifetime NCAA ban. But, from an NCAA perspective, penalties shouldn’t be different if an athlete from another sport bet on an ISU basketball game, an NCAA bad game, an NBA game, or a Serie A game. I’d accept a ban on all ISU sports, not because of inside information, but because of a higher risk that one athlete could try to influence another athlete to throw a game. Though that logic, to quote Riggs and Murtaugh, is pretty thin. What Isaiah Lee did is very concerning and the NCAA has a role in setting rules and penalties. I don't think we can separate the integrity of the games or betting. As they have become very interwoven.
Maybe the decision by Isaiah Lee to bet against his team was a BIG ethical leap. But I am not so sure. So I would prefer the NCAA error on the cautious side.
There will always be opportunity to seek out loopholes. But I feel the NCAA has to create some restrictions, otherwise the slippery slope that Lee went down, might not be so slippery.
But anybody can pay for premium. I can't pay my way into the access that student athletes get in those facilities. The access is controlled by the schoolShould people on the premium board that have access to special information not be allowed to place bets? They have information the non-premium public doesn't.

I don't think it's a stretch to admit that student athletes have more access to each other than the general public. Whether or not you think that extra exposure/information is enough to limit who they can bet on is different and I know we won't agree on that.Really?
I've walked right into the new building, sat in the lobby and waited to meet a client before, watched numerous student athletes come and go. I'm pretty sure I could have grabbed a snack and taken the elevator up and no one would have stopped me.

Yeah, but this investigation did.Sports books spam everybody. They aren't specifically picking out athletes.
How are the gambling apps not liable for directly emailing student athletes offering free $$ to download their apps?

In the NFL, the NFL insiders seem to know the information faster than the actual players. You hear all the time that a player finds out they are traded from Twitter before hearing from the team or agent.I think the days of having a significant information advantage are over. The internet has basically equalized it. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think it’s completely overblown.
We might have a DCI Agent name (Agent Brian Sanger??) and the State is trying to hide things!!!

Isn't that the point of Webster's "made for the people, made by the people, and answerable to the people"? and Lincoln's "government of the people, by the people, for the people"?
Something about this seems fishy and I think it should be the obligation of the state to be up front with us. This isn't an issue of national security or anything.
