Unfortunately this will be a bad stain on ISU across the country. No way to sugarcoat it.

I don't think telling the truth or denying it has any bearing from a legal standpoint. From a University/NCAA punishment standpoint I also don't think it's going to matter. He's gone either way.

I agree somewhat... but I don't think the media will play it that way. They will pile on ISU and the football program. This is pretty bad. And we haven't even gotten to the other key starters yet.
His mom and dad should be charged with felonies and sent to prison for several years.
Just reading the affidavit, it alleges that his parents were involved. Very disappointing indeed.
I think most fans understand betting is rampant so the only thing that would make them notice this more is that he was stupid enough to bet on his own games. I think that will follow him more than it will Iowa State. That’s with the caveat there aren’t additional individuals charged with similar offenses.
I can honestly say I was ready to move on from Dekkers after watching him play last year. I don’t know what we have in the QB room but I was concerned we were going to watch Dekkers struggle the next two years just because he had the most experience in the room. Time to see if Rocco or JJ have that it factor that Dekkers obviously didn’t have.

He should certainly be done at ISU though. And probably in the NCAA in general.
So, you are getting a full ride scholarship worth tens of thousands of dollars. And you, your mom and dad blow that away on a $2,700 gambling scheme. Definition of stupid.

I don’t think so. He will probably accept a plea deal and skip prison, but he should serve time. The damage he did to the university is incalculable.
Totally agree. This all puts a HUGE dent in the whole 5 star culture BS for sure. It will take a while to build up that rep ever again I'm afraid.
