Just reading the affidavit, it alleges that his parents were involved. Very disappointing indeed.

It sounds like a lot more nefarious in the court filing than it does when you describe what likely happened- my read of it is simply that he logged in with her account on his phone to place bets. Still stupid, of course, but not exactly a massive conspiracy

…you never know what you got until you throw them out there. I truly do think Rocco has a lot of similarities to Purdy honestly. Same exact bodies physically, both are pretty mobile, and I think Rocco has a stronger arm actually. Purdy had the accuracy though... we'll have to see what Rocco has in that area.

Sure, the arm strength and accuracy are fundamental, but understanding the offense and decision making is the key. This wasn’t Dekkers’ strength, and if it is for Rocco (like Purdy), we may have a huge silver lining with this gambling debacle.

Unfortunately this will be a bad stain on ISU across the country. No way to sugarcoat it.

Still unfair that this only happened in the state of Iowa, and to only Iowa and ISU.

The gambling incident itself was a stain that most around the country don't even remember or care about anymore. Dekkers being dumb enough to place bets on a game that he was a backup QB for only speaks to his own stupidity; not Iowa State's - especially when he went to the lengths he did to hide it.

I agree somewhat... but I don't think the media will play it that way. They will pile on ISU and the football program. This is pretty bad. And we haven't even gotten to the other key starters yet.

I’m sure ISU will get dragged through the mud on this even though all ISU can do is educate players on gambling. It’s up to the players what they do with that knowledge.

We don’t need those knuckleheads around the program. If you are out one or two games, I may allow you to stay, but you better be ready for living hell.

Aren't all the rest of the guys seniors? I say.... good riddance. You can't be trusted to be on this team.

I know it shouldn't matter if they are seniors or not, but this season is almost lost at this point.... just cut your losses and move on to the future.

I think it would be a pretty reasonable assumption that his mom & dad's involvement was after the fact. Like maybe he stole his mom's identity and when his parents found out about it they just kept quiet in hopes it'd never be found out.
