When they showed a guy in a Hawkeye shirt on the big screen during a TV timeout at Fiserv Sunday there were loud boos from ISU crowd. A lot of Badger fans decided this was a good idea and joined in.

I don't pretend to cheer for iowa. mother **** iowa. i've found that my friends that went to either Iowa or ISU loathe the other school. and those that did not attend the university often time cheer for both teams when not playing one another. This thread may be beating a dead horse , let me know if so.
I am so sick of this Iowa State vs Iowa rivalry. We both pretend to cheer for each other when we’re not playing each other.. both sides know that’s not true. Can both of our fan bases start to treat this like an actual rivalry? I want every Iowa fan in our mentions when we lose. I want every Iowa State fan to chirp Iowa in regards to Richmond. Is this just a me problem? It feels like we are gaslighting each other at all times.
Seems like you choose friends poorly.I have a ton of friends that are Iowa fans. Funny enough, the good Iowa fans are the ones that actually went there. The most insufferable are the ones who hasn't had a family member step foot on their campus. The Big 10 Tournament was hell for me as one of the group chats I was in was **** riding Iowa all weekend (deservedly so). But there were a couple guys in the group chat who just started rooting for Iowa sports lately and started talking **** about Iowa State for no reason.
Those are the worst types of fans. They root for Iowa because it's the popular thing to do. It's annoying as hell. After Iowa lost I texted my actual Hawk buddy and told him that was a tough game but explained I was about to go off in the chat and to not get mad lol. I sent "Hell of a game boys. Glad you guys were able to watch another deep run. Go Hawks am I right?" Not a single response. Of course during the next two ISU games they were firing up the chat with "Go Tigers" and "Go Sconny" and I just got to rub their faces in it. One guy even resorted to mentioning our 2-22 record last year like that was some sort of slight at this point?
Long story short.. **** the Hawks. One of the most condescending fan bases in all of the country.

Grew up in Hawkeye country, went to Iowa State, but I now live and work in Hawkeye country. Just the way it is lol.Seems like you choose friends poorly.

Not when the wife's the bread winner and has a phenomenal jobYou can't help the first part, but this is a you problem for moving back there. lol
This is getting more complex. Your Iowa friends are from college also? They went to ISU? Or did you go clubbing in IC on weekends? Not when the wife's the bread winner and has a phenomenal jobno brainer for me lol. My Iowa friends don't live by me though. They're from college and high school (I only graduated from ISU 4 years ago).
And yet, they certainly didn't hesitate to market the whole America Needs Farmers bull$hit...not because they support farmers, but that it makes them $'s. They could give a rats rump for America's farmers and the ag industry. As Johnny Orr famously said, "Coach, I hate their guts!" Johnny was right. Their fan base is made up of low-IQ knuckle-draggers and Illinois rejects in their student body. Just open your eyes. The roads are littered with pickup trucks sporting the big parakeet logos, driven by people who have never spent a day in college, let alone a dentist's office.
And they look down on us. Something about being a "little brother". We're nobody's brother. Ridiculing our ag college, dismissing the fact that our university is responsible for putting wholesome food at decent prices on their plates. Or for some of them, extra plates. They are the ultimate Walmart fanbase, and if you don't care for my disdain and intense hatred for those asshats, I couldn't care less.

I don't feel sorry for this fat F**k, and his inbred fanbase friends. But if you want to, go ahead.
I had a bunch of friends in HS who were Iowa fans. When we went to college we'd visit one another occasionally so we met each other's college friends.Of r

I know it’s not important, just curious. The ones who go to ISU but remain Iowa fans are the ones I don’t understand at all, why I asked that part. Had a classmate who was like that, a nimrod and not everyone thinks he is getting goofier all the time.I had a bunch of friends in HS who were Iowa fans. None of this is that important lol. I know I can choose my friends. They're genuinely good guys but they're condescending when it comes to sports.

I know a couple people who went to ISU and were Iowa fans. One of them stayed an Iowa fan throughout college but the other now despises Iowa.
