Iowa State Transfer/Recruiting Class 2023

I would add that the roster is pretty well set to make up for a SG that has some defensive deficiencies. Back line of Ward, Watson, Omaha and PG combo of Asuma/William are all + defenders allowing for Pav to match up against other teams worst offensive player. I also assume Pav will improve on defense under this staff as he learns the system and his role.
If Gilbert commits he's the perfect pairing of Defense with some shooting to remove Pav if needed for matchup purposed if a situation calls for it.
Guessing you mean Lipsey instead of Asuma ;)

I’m curious why you’d prefer Pav? He’s smaller and played at a smaller school, I’m not as sure he translates and doesn’t fit our defensive approach as well.

I’d rather get Gilbert and Williams and then see if we can get a high scoring 5th yr guard.
Fair enough

My belief is that he is the best shooter/ scorer in the bunch. Could be wrong.
I think we are poised to be a very good defensive team next year. Once again, I worry about putting the ball in the basket.
I feel like he is the best perimeter shooter.

I get that but he is known as a defensive liability. Do u think that his scoring is good enough to Warren us being not as good defensively or do u think we can teach him defense better than his last coaches

Both. First of all, he was a true freshman so he’s going to get better, secondly he’s a good enough offensive player to justify playing, mostly considering the fact that the rest of our roster will be very good defensively.

Here is what I saw on the Wofford site;
41% 3 point shooter
85% free throws
6’3”
Conference freshman of the year.

He may never be a great defender, but I would think with coaching he would improve. But this is speculation on my part. My original comment was based upon the belief that a good shooter surrounded with 4 very good defenders could be a winning combo.

Portal season is the time for speculation and opinion for us fans. I certainly have no special insight.

This is where I am at too. Pav would be my top choice.

We need SOMEONE who can shoot at a high clip. Our defense will be fine. Offense is what we need. I mean, we held a team to 58 freaking points and STILL LOST BY 17. That is nuts.

Lipsey's offensive game will come around. King has a huge ceiling offensively. Watsons progression from a freshman to a sophomore will help, and Momcilovic, Omaha, and whoever we get in the portal will only help. The guys we lost were not natural shooters or scorers.
